I didn't have trouble with the copy process but I did have trouble once I started burning the files with Nero. Anyone know if Gone Baby Gone has protective measures that 4.0.6.2 can't handle? I got an "error reading data" error about 15 seconds into the burn.

Ok, I got it to work, finally. It wouldn't work correctly if you used the "Customize" menu. I think it must be a PathPlayer issue. It rips just fine to the hard disk but then you can't play it.

I got it to work by doing a FullDisc backup to the hard drive. Then I used the Customize menu to grab the pieces that I wanted. Then I was able to burn directly onto a DVD-5.

Yes, along with Across the Universe and American Gangster.
I slowed the burning speed down, and it still errors out.
Installed a new burner, still errors out. Any ideas?

You have some of the worst blank disks on the planet. Go get some Verbatims or Taiyo Yudens.

Could it be the problems after hundreds of them with this setup working fine?

No doubt. Perhaps the brand is the same but the disks are different. Ritek G05 destroyed Ritek's reputation. Believe me on this one. Get Verbs or Taiyo Yuden.

Whiel you're at it, update your firmware on the LiteOn to GL0J - http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_firmware.php?download_id=2340.

And on the Pioneer to version 1.41 - http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_firmware.php?download_id=2140

And on the Samsung to US09 - http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_firmware.php?download_id=2011

Regards

Not sure if this is the place to seek advice with a problem, so flame on if not.
I've been using DVDFab for about a year and DVDIdle longer. Love 'em both. Just upgraded DVDFab to 4.0.6.2 and it has allowed me to back up previously problematic DVD titles. However, today I had a curious problem wiht the new DVD "Becoming Jane". DVDFab burned a DVD copy just fine, however it won't create an iPod version. It goes through the various steps (in less than a minute) reporting that it successfully completed the task. It creates an empty folder .../ipod/BECOMING JANE but the mp4 file is nowhere to be found.

HELP! tia. Joe

Look in " My Documents" for a DVD Fab temp folder.

Wow, Thanks for the FAST reply!
I checked all the DVD folders in My Documents as well as Program Files, and the Application Data folders in the Documesnts and Settings folder for the system disk. No new mp4 files found.
The other ipod videos have taken at least and hour to generate. This session lasted less than a minute. I suspect that some section of code was just skipped altogether.
FWIW, this version of DVDFab was able to create ipod videos for 2 other relatively recent DVDs (Stardust and Stranger Than Fiction).

Thanks!

Joe

The conversion to MPEG4 should take about 1/2 hour with a good processor. Try it again and look to see what temp folder it is going to.

-

I've tried several times now to convert the file to ipod mp4. I was wrong, the total time elapsed is 2 seconds. I cannot find a temp file for this DVDFab session anywhere on the disk. All I can offer is the following from the log file:

02:11:00: Task 1
02:11:00: Source( G:\VIDEO_TS )
02:11:00: Video( Title=1, Angle=0, PlayTime=02:00:48, Chapter=1-17, AspectRatio=16:9 )
02:11:00: Audio( [80h] English AC-3/6 normal )
02:11:00: Target( C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\My Documents\Movies&Shows\ipod\BECOMING JANE\ )
02:11:01: Process completed successfully!

Perhaps the temp file(s) is being deleted on completion?

The machine I'm using is a Comcaq Presario with and 1.8 GHz Athlon XP 2200+ and 1G RAM. The disk has 24G of free space.

Thanks Jim,

I attached another log file and the only temp file I could find on my PC for the same date/timeframe (it looks more like something from Windows update).
