Fangtao is the best. Have had excellent results w/Fab since before version 3.2.1.0. I wish I could duplicate the problems reported about Fab output incompatible w/Shrink.
Almost all of my backups are movie only, ripped either with Fab or DVD Decrypter, and of those that are movie only, most are Shrink'd to exclude crap like 21st Century Fox, MGM or whoever and end titles. Just like what Shrink says, least amount of compression is the best compression. Shrink is slow on my P3 600. Really only complaint if I was to complain at all.

Still nothing else around that is one-click, done. I massage the movie down to 4.7G DVD and rarely use DL media.

I use a Sony DRU-810 1.0f ($60) to rip/burn. My DVD player in the living room is a Sony DVP-NS55P ($60). I try to buy Sony blank DVD+R (accuCORE).
The best part is everything, the DVD burner, DVD player, and blank media can be found at Wal-Mart.
DVD media
$20/50 DVD+R 4.7G
$50/25 DVD+R DL 8.5G

I've never tried the PSP profile but all the others I've used generally take about 50-60% of whatever the running time of the movie is. Much depends on your system. Faster than other stuff I've tested. As Fengtao suggested, download the free trial and see how it runs on your system.

so you are saying more or less that it takes half the time as it takes for the full disc mode? i was just curious. I mean i amn gonna try it but i was ju7st worried i'd be spending hours reencoding. if it only takes like 45 minutes or so,then no biggie.

Hi bamahusker,

Any "DVD to Mobile" conversion to MPEG4/H.264 need re-encoding.

DVDFab uses multi-thread framework to use features of modern multi-core cpu, so it's very fast on such system.

If you want faster "DVD to Mobile" speed, you need invest on a better cpu, 2 fast hard disk drives (one for source on hard disk, and another for target), and a fast dvd drive if you source is DVD disc.

Best Regards,
Fengtao

I am experiencing difficulties with installing my activation key. I've had DVDplatinum software for 9 months now. I just installed the latest version. I have both cut and pasted the key and installed the attached key as well. I've even tried downloading the key to my desktop. Nothing has worked (I still receive the trial version message in error). I have uninstalled and reinstalled this software as well. Nothing works.

I have the Vista OS (I've been using this same OS with DVD Platinum for 8 mos now).

What else can I do to resolve this issue?

Thanks.

As far as the audio sync problems previously reported: It does not appear to matter what the DVD -> Mobile settings are. Any setting with Ratatouille, Zathura, and Sailor Moon V (all region 1) creates an out-of-sync audio track. Leaving audio and/or video the same as the source makes no difference.

wat does macrovision copy protection mean? (if found on cover).
is it legal to backup Harry Potter And The Order Of the Phenix dvd (special edition)? (region 2) (england (uk))?

It looks like Liongate is doing it's thing again...
Can only back up my retail Good Luck Chuck, "movie only."
When trying to back up the entire DVD I get the same problems I have been getting with 3:10 to Yuma.
All other DVD backs are fine and I'm using the 4.0.5.1 Beta version.
Any suggestions out there?

I had no trouble backing up 3:10 to Yuma. I used the latest beta version and everything went smoothly.

pathplayer enabled
main movie
and it took 25 minutes total

On Intel Quad Core Q6600.
The movie duration is 1h 29m, DVDFab profile is "mobile" on Motorola MP4, with 2 passes and 200 Mb of final defined size.
Total encoding time = 43 minutes and the file size is 134 Mb

1 pass, encoding time = 24 minutes

stupid question here, and thanks for the reply allxsan on my last question, but recently i have been thinking about something. Although i have not tried it yet,i noticed one of the options is for Nintendo DS. I never knew DS could be used for tranferring video to it. does it really work from experience? Just curious.

I bought the gold edition and love it (no need for the platinum as I don't do mobile formats).
SawIV was such a pain in the Butt to copy, but with your software i had no problems.

Thank you.....

I triple shrinked and am still in the red. Anyone else get this with Good Luck Chuck? This is the only DVD i have had issues with.

Woo Hoo, That worked!
With the pathplayer enabled, I was able to back up 3:10 to Yuma's main movie and then I went back and backed up the entire DVD using the customize option I took out the directors audio track and all of the trailers which gave me a 60% compression ratio for a single layer 4.5 disk. All menu functions, chapters and special features worked without any problems!
I went back and backed up my "Good Luck, Chuck" DVD and it also worked without any problems with the pathplayer enabled.
In both instances, using pathplayer enabled, it took about 7 minutes longer.
This software rocks!

oh well, this stinks. This is my 4th time shrinking and i don't think it's gonna shrink down to 4.7 gig anytime soon. I have the most recent version.

Your problem is with shrink not DVDFab. Wrong settings eh?

no Bob i have the right settings. I have never had a DVD like this before. every dvd i shrink with DVD Shrink, if it is in the red after the first analyze,i only shrink twice then it fixed it. but this one just goes down like 100 kilobites and it's still way over after 4 times of shrinking. I don't get it.

I don't have it but that's odd. It's an .iso output from Fab?

i ripped with fab giving me the "Full Disc" folder in my hard drive. when i ran shrink,it gave me 6.1 gig. i saved that and reran shrink with that folder and i got 5.9 i saved that and reran shrink with that folder and i get 5.7. then this last time i saved and reran with shrink it went to 5.6. i don't understand what is happening. i checked my version and i had 4.0.5.0 not 4.0.5.1 which i thought i had the most recent version. I'm going to try shrink again after using 4.0.5.1. if it is in the red again i'll double shrink but if it is in the red after that i'm just gonna give up.
