Please continue the great work that you've been doing for years and continue to produce DVD Fab that works on Windows 2000. My system is 9 years old. Everything still works, e-mail, web, Office, creating perfect duplicates of DVDs, everything essential for the home without the expense of another new Micro$oft OS.

Many thanks signals! I didn't know creating new profiles was that straight forward in DVDFab. I thought they were compiled with the program. My only question is if there is a variant of h.264 (such as baseline, or baseline 1.3). I find this part confusing about the h.264 codec.

You guys are awesome. M$ could learn a lot from you.

A couple of notes/bugs with the 4.0.2.0 beta:

- Regardless of option settings, the Target Size option on Full Disc copy always reverts to "DVD 5". I would like to be able to default to DVD9 (or to whatever setting will ensure no re-encode/quality reduction)

- Even with PathPlayer set to Always Enabled, some discs don't work with it (comes up disabled). Two examples: Finding Nemo (R1, Widescreen Disc, US), and Monsters, Inc. (R1, US). I love the PathPlayer feature (for the direct movie/menu start option) and would like to see it work everywhere.

- I haven't been able to exactly confirm this, but it seems some video-based content doesn't playback as well from the ripped HD version vs the original DVD, specifically the HD version looks very "interlaced" like the pull-down flag was set wrong or something. The DVD version does not have the same interlacing issue. 100% quality (DVD9 mode) was selected, as was Pathfinder+Start Menu/Movie. My only examples are kids DVDs (Blues Clues, Strawberry Shortcake, etc). It is possible it just an issue with my player (WMP11 on Vista w/Nvidia video card), or some other software configuration issue, but wanted to report it just in case.

DVDfab is designed specifically for working with video DVDs. It is not an appropriate tool for copying games.

Hi I used signal's code to create (which I think) is a better profile for zune.

I have three questions about the code:

1. What is the difference between the "avc_ipod" vcodec and the "h264" vcodec?

2. What do the different modes do in the code?

3. What language is the code.


Some suggestions to Ting and Fengtao:

1. Make the selections for frame rate on all appropriate profiles standard on "Same as source"

2. Put some code which can measure the pixels in the frame so it can auto select the ratio by default with an option to force ratio (I may know the ratio of a movie but the average user does not).

3. Create a profile for each combination of container, vcodec, and acodec supported at the time for the device.

The codecs were all updated in one of the recent betas. H.264 is also known as AVC (advanced video codec) and I suspect this replaced the one named h264, which was the one in DVDFab when my profile was made. I should have checked this and I apologize. I have not done a conversion with H.264 since the beta with the new codecs came out. Some of your other questions are answered in the "master" profile, which is in the Readme folder within the Profiles folder. "Same as Source" can be forced I think using the mode switches but is not appropriate for all profiles (most cellphones don't support anything above 10-12 fps). Ting made some recent changes regarding the screen size selection that may do what you requested; I haven't had time to experiment to see the effect. Perhaps others have and will enlighten us. All of us that choose to customize to this level should thank Ting for making this structure so flexible.

My first time posting ,sent you a IFO file on Rush Hour 3 would not copy, having same problem with Shattered and The Kingdom. Thanks for the great software.

Bug: In 4.0.2.0 with Pathplayer enabled only the Full Frame version of Underdog appears.

I actually got Rush Hour 3 on the drive with 4.0.2.0 Beta ...... BUT, I did get the following when opened in PgcEdit (see attached). I did get a working backup.

PS: All other tools aborted/crashed trying to get this title on my HD !

had no problem with kingdom but rush hour 3 is another thing i cant get passed loading it in to fab plat 4.0.2.0 my movie is region 1 and usa

This DVD release is horrendous. When viewing the original disc if you skip through the previews with your remote using the Next button then you'll also skip the menus and it goes straight into playing the Full Screen version. You have to either sit and watch the previews or you can use the menu button to get to the movie. I'm not shocked at what you are reporting. Watch the disc in PowerDVD and skip through the previews and you'll see the same thing happen. I wonder if this problem can be fixed without kludging.

The way this disc acts is simply horrendous and I hope it isn't something we see again or often.

As r0lZ says, that is (probably) not illegal. Different titles may be able to map to the same PGC and I would bet that they wouldn't be called anyway (do an Info - Find Uncalled Titles). If this is the case, nothing to worry about - just leave them alone.

Although the dup titles may be illegal with DVD spec, it seems it's compatible with DVD players, and we cannot simply remove it to fix it.

I think it's better to keep the dup titles to make DVD structure intact.

The next version of DVDFab will list only one in titles list, so that you will not see two (or more) same titles.

I actually think assigning more than one VMG title to a TTN is illegal - see error 4085, page 116 of the Verifier manual. But, as you say, if they are never referenced, there's not a lot to worry about.

Yes you are right, it's illegal, at least according Verifier.

Although I think it's compatible with most DVD players, we need wait for several days to see if people will have compatible problem, since the disc was just released.

Just used a friend s copy of Rush Hour 3 (he got from Wal Mart ) it copied with no problems. Not sure what the differance is but I have a good copy now.

It would be nice to see the Creative Vision M players added to the Mobile Device List. They have been around a lot longer than the Zune.
