Yep, Dvd Shrink does it just fine.

Rip time: 16 min.

Dvd Shrink: 9 min at 96.9% compression.

Thanks, Fengtao.

I can confirm that the above problem is fixed for me using DVDFab Platinum 4.0.1.4 Beta.

Yes, I did. using HD 4014 Beta. It does fine with Hairspray and allows DVD Shrink to run, without getting the "out of memory" error.

@bkch,
Depends on what version of Fab poster has.
Fab HD does not compress.
Platinum does.

Where I was unable to burn Live Free or Die Hard using 4.0.1.2, I can burn the DVD now using 4.0.1.4 beta. However, when I try and run the Generic .avi, it crashes.

DVD Title: Live Free or Die Hard
Region Code: 1 - USA, Canada
Country: US
BuyLink:

File Type: zip DVDFabPlatinum.zip (154.1 KB, 10 views)

I can't backup The Fantastic Four or Harry Potter Prisoners of Azkaban.

When I do Harry Potter it crashes on the opening of it. I get the message that DVDfab encountered reading errors and wants to enable PathPlayer. After PathPlayer is enabled I get a message that says Failed to get dvd information and then an error reading disk.

The Fantastic Four opens fine but during the backup process it crashes and says there were reading errors.

I ran DVD-Region+CSS on both of them and Harry Potter has Region protection and Fantastic has CSS protection.

I cannot backup Disney's Ratatouille WS DVD using the DVDFab 4.0.1.4 Beta Free Edition version. I have the Region 1 Ratatouille DVD. I get the "Error while reading! Please chose what to do?" message. It always happens when it it tries to create the "VTS_06_3.VOB" file. It happens when I try the Full Disc and/or the Main Movie option and also happens when I try the PathPlayer option.

I had previously tried it with the DVDFab 4.0.1.2 version and then downloaded the beta in hopes that it would work but both versions had the same error.

Will there be a fix for the Ratatouille DVD?

I have backed up this movie in every mode using DVD Fab Platnium, you must have a bad source disc, and the bad part that was pressed is in that file. Try another disc, take it back.

Out of Memory is common with DVDShrink 32015 if compression is less than 65% (i.e. 66-100%) with newer, faster computers - especially those over 3.2ghz (not sure about dual core speeds).

DVDShrink trips over itself when running too fast, especially on movies requiring little shrinking / processing.

The best solution that works 100% of the time is to use a freeware program called CPUKiller 3, and set the slder value to 35%. >> http://www.cpukiller.com/

This slows down the computer by 35%, and prevents a crash.

If you still have a problem, raise the value 5% at a time.

Let us know how it works, what value you set, and your computer's speed!

The program will time out after 20 minutes, unless you buy a full version, but any shrinking with this problem will be done in less than 15 minutes.

Hopefully somebody will make an add-in utility to slow down DVDShrink - and nothing else - in the future.

Thanks!

It might be that, but he might want to rip it in with another DVD drive. Sometimes certain drives are picky on some disc or the drive is worn. I had this trouble with one disc on my PC, but when i riped it with my burner or laptop's drive it scanned perfectly. If it does it on all drives its a bad source.

Or couldn't you just set the priority of dvdshrink in the task manager to low?? Or you could just run a bunch of your other programs at the same time your using DVD shrink. That ought to slow your PC's processor.

I've been unable to use the Split fuction with 4012 & 4014. Get a 300 error. Spliting from a folder on the HDD. Examples that don't work, Adventures of Sherlock Holmes boxeset D1, Boston Legal S2 D1, & Transformers. I rolled back to 4005 and they split like normal.

Other than slowing your computer with CPU Killer 3, there is another method that works all the time - for some unknown reason.

Out of Memory in DVDShrink 32015 can also be solved by selecting two different movies to shrink sequentially, using the freeware utility Multi Shrink >>http://www.dvdshrink.info/chetwood/index.php

Trying to slow your computer by running several applications, instead of using CPU Killer 3, typically will not work - nor will changing the priority of the task in the task manager.

Multishrink, however, will stop the out of memory problem.
