Aloha all,

Tried to record The Forgotten to my Hard drive (2 pass) When you try to play the movie it crashes (Pixelizes) and then freezes VideoLan.

My system:

Core2 Duo 2.6Ghz
2GB Ram
10k HD's
Soundblaster Extreme Audio

I also recorded Start Trek Voyager Disk 7 (session 7) and its too dark to watch.

I have been recording movies with other versions of DVDfab with no problems. What do you think the problem is here?

VideoLan is the latest version, I own DVDFab Plat.

I downloaded 3.1.0.8 last night but had not tested it until I saw your post.
I made a copy of a move that I had already copied with the previous version of platinum .
I just finished comparing them and there is no difference in the color or quality.

Could you post a log and add more information so the experts on the board can help ?

Hi Wizzard005,

There isn't 2 pass options in DVDFab Platinum, which software do you use to compress?

Maybe you only use DVDFab HD Decrypter to rip and use other software to compress? If so, the Pixelizes problem should be caused by the compress software.

Best Regards,
Fengtao

Yeah, I wondered about the 2 pass function as well.
Maybe the OP is converting to mp4?
I also seem to recall some disc structure issues with The Forgotten, but it's been so long I'm afraid my old brain just can't remember clearly.

@Wizzard005,
If you can post back with some specifics, I can try to reproduce the problem...that is if my original disc hasn't grown feet...with a little help from my children...

This is what i do to record a movie.

Click on Generic

click on configure

Device, Generic, Generic.avi.xvid.audiocopy

Encoding Method, High Quality (2-pass)

Video Windows Size, 848x480

Fixed Bitrate, (5000) Drag the file size thing to max, 3.8GB (doesn't mean the movie comes out to that size, just makes it best quality)

let me know...

Ok, re-recorded The Forgotten (single pass) About 1/2 way though the movie it starts to play another section of the movie, its like playing another version of the movie. I only select the main movie, but dvdfab is messing up bit time...

Hi Wizzard005,

I just done a test with The Forgotten, and there is no problem.

There are two versions of movie on this disc, one is theatrical version, another is extended version. Which one do you copy?

Also, could you please tell me the exact time when you have playback problem?

Best Regards,
Fengtao

You are skipping a step here. Before clicking "Next" be sure to select the correct Title (see Fengtao's post) and audio/subpicture streams.

Also, in my experience, this process produces better results at moderate bitrates. At 5000kb/s you are approaching bitrates for some DVDs and might be better off with a compressed VOB file.
