3.0.2.2 Beta (10/09/2006)
- New: Parse both UDF and ISO9660 file system, and choose the correct one
to read DVD.
- New: Added support for a new Sony ARccOS protection as found on
"Silent Hill" (R2, Germany).
Note: The new protection uses wrong file system, so it cannot be played
on some DVD players, but backup disc can be played for sure.
- New: Added "Advanced Title Settings" to control "Title Playback Order" and "Chapter Range".
- New: Added "Chapter Range" feature in "Main Movie" and "Customize".
- Fix: A crash problem when opening PAL DVD in certain cases.
- Fix: Burning doesn't use the speed in Settings.

Fengtao, thanks for putting out a new beta, does it address the problems I have been experiencing? Thank you.

This is a big step forward. I have yet to recieve any errors and I have tried 3 different modes with previously difficult discs to rip.

Great! I will install and test it as soon as I get home from work today.

It's funny to say "Nothing fixed".

Please send us all the .IFO files on Original disc, then we will check the problem.

A recommended way is listed below:
1) Open an Explorer window, and navigate to VIDEO_TS folder of the DVD.
2) Copy all files ending with .IFO to hard disk.
3) ZIP the IFO files on hard disk to one file. Name it with a readable filename, like Stealth_UK.zip.
4) Send the zip file to fengtao(at)dvdidle.com, you need replace (at) with @.

Original Disc? This happens with every disc. Everything was OK when I used DVDFab Express but since the update to DVD Fab Gold I've been having these problems. In the early reading process - approximately at 13% - 20% I get Task_1 Failed! Error=400
Process Failed! The reading stops right there and never even get's to the writing stage.

Further to my previous message, there are no .IFO files because the reading does not complete; only 4 .VOB files. There is a log file and I've pasted it below:

Just to help you out here. The IFO files are on the DVD. They are not copy protected so therefore you can zip them up directly from the DVD.

Thanks - but the IFO files would be irrelevant because it happens with every DVD - including the ones that were successfully copied with DVDFab Express

I would but I am so frustrated with version 3 I uninstalled it. I used version 2.9.8.3 and I was able to backup Click without any issues. Is there any chance you could update 2.9.8.3 until the bugs are worked out in version 3?

This latest version will not open when I click on the icon to start the program.
Version 3.0.2.0 works fine. Any ideas?

Dav88 is it possible you have anydvd or similar running in the background?
I have noticed that the warning for anydvd does NOT show up anymore in this betaversion, instead the program simply does not start

I just confirmed this as well, Fab v.3.0.2.2 beta simply will not open with AnyDVD running.
Just to be clear...it's not enough to disable AnyDVD, you must fully exit the application.

The only thing I have running is my antivirus (NOD32) and firewall (Kerio).

First of all like all of you that are having problems I also had them until this version. V3.0.2.2 has solved all of my problems. Let me show you my settings. I have no problem with the program opening with or without AnyDVD running. Look at the screenshots below.

This is how I fixed my problem with this version 3.0.2.2 not opening on my pc.

1. Uninstalled DVDFab and any log settings it saved.

2. Installed DVDFab v3.0.2.0 (the version that would open).

3. Uncheckmarked `Check for on-the-fly decrypter automatically`. Then exit.

4. Installed DVDFab v3.0.2.2 but did not uninstall DVDFab v3.0.2.0.

When DVDFab v3.0.2.2 opened the `Check for on-the-fly decrypter automatically` was unchecked.


Anydvd is not running nor is any other decrypter. Anydvd is the only other decrypter that I have which is v6.0.8.0.

Same settings as alan1476 but still get the same error

I've ripped the DA VINCI CODE (ITA) with DvdFabDecrypter 3.0.2.2 in full disc mode. On the dvd there are 81 files (7.88Gb) and on the hard disk there are 72 files (7.35Gb)... what's happened ?
Where are 550Mb ? Is it a kind of protection ?

uninstalled and re-imnstalled - same error!

alan1476, I am beginning to think that some of the problems I am experiencing are firmware 1.04 related. But then if that's true, why does the hard drive (temp directory) lose its DMA setting half way through the process? What do you think?

If there are to many problems while reading the disc windows will reset it' self to PIO.

The most common reason why a CD or DVD port falls back to PIO mode is a drive trying over and over to read a scratched or dirty CD or DVD.

For repeated DMA errors. Windows XP will turn off DMA mode for a device after encountering certain errors during data transfer operations. If more that six DMA transfer timeouts occur, Windows will turn off DMA and use only PIO mode on that device.
