Am I supposed to close the settings after doing the build
OK how about we start from scratch

Open ImgBurn then on the right side click on"Write File/Folder to disc" you will now see the new window NOW put a blank disc in your drive/burner and make sure that drive/burner is in the drop down window in the lower left side NOW on the right side you will see some tabs click on the one that says "Device"

Aloha StormJumper, OK I did it. I am trying to understand what you wrote about dual layer disks, can I just do like always on DVDFab and just use the 9 in the box. After you told me I had to click the files/folders button things went ok, that was the problem and now I am going to try and burn a copy. I will get back to you with the results. Like I said earlier if this doesn't fix things I can always just use my laptop which works fine plus I may just reformat this hard drive and start everything all over. Oh by the way do I just open and use DVDFab like usual and no other programs, not even IMGburn.Aloha<Wildog

Once you have set up ImgBurn just close it and run DVDFab as normal as soon as it gets ready to burn it will open ImgBurn.

Sorry my friend about not getting back to you sooner was busy, I don't have the disc to do any testing so not sure why you have that issue normally when the rip go through it should burn OK specially when using good quality media (which I know you do) and your using proper burn speed...so I'm at a lose however I will try to get my hands on the DVD and test it out

Re: DVD FAB Products Discussion Thread

Aloha StormJumper, Well I just burned a copy using imageburn and I set the write speed at 4X but it never got higher than 1.6 which isn't much better than what I had before so something else is going on. I think the best thing to do is reformat this new hard drive and reinstall XP and not check that box in that makes media player the default burner, i think that is where I messed up. The good thing is I still have the new laptop so I am not going to be without a computer. I want to thank you for all of your time and help trying to fix this problem and after I get things set up again I will get back to you.Aloha,Wildog

In DVDFab's common settings-> "Write" do you have "Recommended" select for the write speed ? if so it could be your burner is on it's last leg and getting ready to die on you
do you have another burner you can put into the computer that you can try ?

Re: DVD FAB Products Discussion Thread

Aloha StormJumper, The only other burner I have is a single layer that came with the computer. This Plextor should be fine, I think the mistake was when I upgraded windows media player I accidently checked a box making that player the default burner. Just talked with Dell and they want like $100 to fix the problem so I told them it was easier to just reformat and start all over. Is there a way to make DVDFab my default burner and not media player.Aloha,Wildog

If you think that is the problem you can do a system restore back before you update media player and see if that fixes the problem

Re: DVD FAB Products Discussion Thread

Aloha StormJumper, Tried that earlier today and since the media player ispart of the XP OS I couldn't do that. I know the burner is not going bad since it hasn't been used that much. When I had the 760 Plextor I told a tech guy about it and he toldme it would last a year and a half and he was dead on, it died almost 11/2 yrs after buying it. If I were to buy a new burner doyou have any suggestions, money is not a problem. But I thik I am going for the reinstall of XP.Aloha,Wildog

Aloha StormJumper, Spent some time with my good tech support and they also think it might be the buner going bad. Second Plextor to last only 18 months so am thinking about a different brand. May go external but not sure. Do you have any suggestions on a good burner, internal and external.Aloha,Wildog

Aloha StormJumper, Yes burner maybe going bad but it is strange that both Hard drive and burner would go bad at the same time. Think I might get the Samsung SE-S084, Aloha,Wildog

The Samsung SH-S222A would also be a good choice
