Hi
I am having the same problem as JohnPolchinski. In that I am using the latest version of DVDFab Platinum (5050) on XP Home edition and when I start DVDFab Platinum it immediately closes down when it 'sees' the media. I have done a complete uninstall (thanks to StormJumpers clear instructions) and new reinstall from a new download from dvd.com not my original download in case it was corrupt. I have re-registered it and still the problem persists. I have noticed that the problem seems to occur if I try to copy just the main movie and does not seem to occur if I copy the whole disk (but this could be coincidence). The problem seemed to start when I installed Service Pack 3 for XP and also updated DVDFab Platinum to version 5.0.5.0. so I am at aloss to know where the problem lies. And oh yes I have followed StormJumper's advice and made sure that DVDFab Platinum is listed in the Data Execution Prevention exclusion list. Any further help gratefully received.

Best wishes
Ian

Problem using DVDFab I have used this program many times without a problem. All of a sudden today, The program will copy the original dvd onto my hard drive and when its about to start to burn the program just shuts down! it initially started to do this when DEP was turned on, now its doing this with it turned off, but Vista Ultimate is giving me a unknown reason for shutting it down.

Suggestions?

What burn engine are you using...and what version are you running...32 bit or 64 bit?

Please advise.

I am having the same problem trying to backup "The Edge Of Love" It try's to read the disc and then shuts down. I did a clean install and I duplicated it on two other machines with the newest version of DVDFab Plat 6.0.2.2 this is strange as I can't explain what is happening as I never had this problem before.

My problem is the same, I note the posts are cut off and I can find no answer to this very frustrating dilemma. Can someone post the end solution for me?

Sorry, I should have included more info. I am using XP home edition (DVDfab 6.0.4.0). It was working fine, DVDfab is the greatest thing since cotton candy, I try to let everyone know about it. But recently I had to reinstall my OS and shortly after that it began to mis fire. I select a drive (or folder) and it copies ok, then it hits the place where it is suppose to burn and DVDfab just disappears! Occasionally it will work (one out of every 20 times) but even then it takes two minutes before it actually begins the burn.

Well I don't know what drive/burner you are using or if the firmware is up to date also then brand of blank media you are using
However if you are using the VSO burn engine(DVDFab's defualt) then try switching the burn engine from VSO to ImgBurn if you have ImgBurn installed, if not you can get it at imgburn.com it is free
the link below is a good guide for setting DVDFab and ImgBurn to work together

Sounds a bit like a software conflict going on here...what else is on your system?

Have you tried changing your path player setting?

StormJumper, I went in and changed the burning software as you suggested. I downloaded ImgBurn and tried again. This time it went right in and began to burn the DVD. Sounds like there is something wrong with VSO burning software?

The difference between the VSO and ImgBurn is...

VSO burn engine-> it has issues with certain brand/models of drives/burners also has incompatibility isses with some low to poor quality media and their write strategies and the control of the drives/burners course I didn't ever have a problem with the VSO burn enginebut then again I use only Taiyo Yuden and Verbatim media

ImgBurn-> Works great with most if not all drives/burners also works very well with low to poor quality media because it will detect any variation in the write strategy and will adjust the burn speed to compensate for any variation due to poor quality which in turn means it has great control over the drives/burners, Plus with ImgBurn you can set a multiple write/burn speed for a veriety of MID(Media ID) thus eliminating the need to change burn speed when switching between media brands

Course as always this is only my .02 cents and observations

Hi everyone, new here so be gentle!

I've run into this same problem - DVDfab scans the media and staright away shuts down - however it's not on every DVD.

I'm downloaded Imgburn, and followed the imstructions, and the proble persists. I'm running Windows XP, and have the latest version of DVDfab (6)

aNY IDEAS? I'm not confident enough to change any registry settings etc. Problm only seemed to occur when I upgraded to the newest version

Hi OberonK
Welcome to the forum

The movie titles that are making DVDFab shutdown after or during the analyzing if they are older movies then try going into common settings-> "PathPlayer" and set it as disabled, there is a small glitch with PathPlayer when it comes to the older movie titles.

Hope that helps if not just let us know and we can go from there good luck.

SJ

Hi SJ,

Thanks for the quick reply - actually it seems to be newer stuff - Bee Movie, Kung Fu Panda & Wall:E (I have children lol) - although it seemed to like Cindy Crawford's workout and Horton Hears a Who....

I'll try your tip anyway and see what like.

DVDfab did have a problem with those titles when they first came out, however the issues was taken care of...make sure your using the latest release which is v6060 which is now available on dvdfab.com
