| I have always had great results with 1clickdvdcopy pro and dvd43. I am now trying to back up a copy of Wall.E and it just will NOT do it. My dvd43 is yellow with red eyes and looks like a devil...my burner drive just keeps going and going trying to read the disc but the disc seems to get stuck in there and I have a hard time trying to eject the disc. It said at one point that the dvd is encrypted...another time I got some error message that disappeared too quickly for me to read it properly. I put in another movie disc and it all works fine. I put Wall.E back in and big troubles...I also tried copytodvd se and that also seems to make the disc stick in the drive and you can hear that it's trying to work but seems to 'labour' under the strain of trying to read. I cannot get it to work and don't know what to do! Please help! Thanks, angie |

| A couple things you need to be sure to have done.... First is that you have the latest updates of both 1 Click DVD Pro and DVD43. Second is that you need to be sure the DVD itself is thoroughly clean and not damaged or scratched, use VSO Inspector(freeware) to scan for possible read erros. I the disc is damaged it will report read errors in VSO Inspector. Last thing you might need to keep an eye on, if your DVD drive is an IDE (PATA) drive, then you need to make sure your DMA is not disabled to PIO mode... Windows will default to PIO mode if you keep trying to copy a disc that is either dirty or damaged... this is only if your DVD Drive is an IDE drive.

| so sorry to ask, but it is an [E] ATAPI DVD A DH20A3S 9P56 (Ide) and I have checked for all updates to both 1click and dvd43. Still problems. When I uninstalled and reinstalled there were also hassles..and when I finally get the disc out the red devil face stays for awhile. I am not sure how to check DMA to PIO mode...and the disc is clean and I have good quality media and I burn at a slow 8X speed. I haven't check yet with VSO inspector...that's next. Thanks heaps. angie |

Okay, the disk is in the drive now and it won't eject. I keep trying..even the installation of VSO inspector has not helped as the devil face of dvd43 comes up and makes everything I try to do go either really slowly, or I get a "not responding" message. It is whirring around in the drive and won't eject still. I tried to disable dvd43 to let the VSO inspector take told of the disk but seems that the dvd43 just goes onto auto pilot and takes over. What can I do now please? |

| This is what the VSO Inspector has...should I leave it longer..it sounded like the disc was just going round and round and nothing much was happening...I cancelled twice...then restarted but not sure if I am doing it right. angie 2009-03-21 14:47:43 Warning Surface scan cancelled by user 2009-03-21 14:47:43 Info 2009-03-21 14:47:43 Info 2009-03-21 14:47:43 Info 2009-03-21 14:47:43 Info 2009-03-21 14:47:43 Error 2009-03-21 14:46:33 Error 2009-03-21 14:45:22 Error 2009-03-21 14:44:12 Error 2009-03-21 14:44:11 Info 2009-03-21 14:44:11 Info 2009-03-21 14:44:11 Info Surface Scan started 2009-03-21 14:44:11 Info Layers: 2 2009-03-21 14:44:11 Info Capacity: 7.46 GB (3912832 Sectors) 2009-03-21 14:44:11 Info Media ID: N/A 2009-03-21 14:44:11 Info Volume Label: WALL_E_LIC2_D1 2009-03-21 14:44:11 Info Media Type: DVD 2009-03-21 14:44:11 ---- 2009-03-21 14:42:28 Warning Surface scan cancelled by user 2009-03-21 14:42:28 Info 2009-03-21 14:42:28 Info 2009-03-21 14:42:28 Info 2009-03-21 14:42:28 Info 2009-03-21 14:42:28 Error 2009-03-21 14:41:19 Error 2009-03-21 14:41:18 Info 2009-03-21 14:41:18 Info 2009-03-21 14:41:18 Info Surface Scan started 2009-03-21 14:41:17 Info Layers: 2 2009-03-21 14:41:17 Info Capacity: 7.46 GB (3912832 Sectors) 2009-03-21 14:41:17 Info Media ID: N/A 2009-03-21 14:41:17 Info Volume Label: WALL_E_LIC2_D1 2009-03-21 14:41:17 Info Media Type: DVD 2009-03-21 14:40:24 ---- ******************** Log session start 2009-03-21 14:40:24.436 PID 5440******************** |

| Hi angie, sorry I couldn't respond sooner... It appears that VSOInspector is reporting read errors, which means the disc is ither too dirty or damaged. Which explains DVD43's behavior. Could you post a log from 1Click? (F8 and then copy and paste as you did with the VSOInspector log). You could try to thoroughly clean the DVD and try once more, but if still erroring out, then the disc is damaged and you need to take it back for a replacement. As for checking and resetting your DMA, your log would should show which mode it's in, it probably has been dropped into PIO by Windows due to the failed attempts with a damaged disc. | Hi and thanks so much, No worries about getting back to me-I'm so grateful for your time and expertise.. Now, I've been up for hours on the net and downloading software and finding out as much as I can about the problem. DVD shrink said that the disc had crc probems...and that led me into another area of investigation. There is never an end to this multi faceted, complex pyramid maze thing called 'the computer!' Anyway, believe it or not, one place I was on in the www gave the easiest possible thing to try...toothpaste and warm water. I have ample supply of both and after a few hours of toil and trouble I took that disc and cleaned it with toothpaste. I went from the centre to the edge and NOT around and around in a circle..then I gently washed it off with warm water and dried with a lint free cloth...the one I clean my glasses with. Well, would you believe that I have it in my lap top right now and it has copied and is now encoding and I will have to see how the burning might go... I was on sites that checked for possible retrieval of lost data (thinking that might help) and it seems that my computer has a lot of lost data but that was all too confusing and in the end I had to sign up and pay etc..for any retrieval of that lost date etc. Your suggestion of VSO inspector was good, thank you very much, and it didn't cost me anything which I appreciate. Some of the programs I am trialing I like, like DVDclone and ANYDVD which I will probably also buy and have on my laptop... But, if this works, how good is that?? The corrupt DVD just might be in need of a little visit to the dentist, ie. for a good clean! I will let you know if it's successful as soon as I finsih with the DVDshrinking in laptop. Then I'm going to try it again in my pc on 1click and see it the toothpaste thing worked or not. If that all fails I will send the log as you have suggested etc. and thank you SO much. Kind regards, Angie |

| Hi again, I feel very battle weary...or pc weary. I've spent many hours checking seeking fixing..the good news is that I'm learning I guess. The bad news is I realise how very little I know about it all. Anyway, it was a little exciting when the disc was being read and encoded by DVD shrink. I thought it looked promising but no luck in burning. I tried it on my main Vista pc with 1click and the disc still laboured trying to be read and it was a no go. I grabbed another disc to make sure that I could still burn and yes, all is okay. I checked the DMA and PIO etc. and thanks as that was really intersting too. I have the TS video files on my laptop so I thought I could put these onto a memory stick and then using that memory stick, I could burn on my pc using 1click. I tried DVDFab, and DVDclone, and DVDshrink, and did all sorts of things to try and get these files onto a disc so I can view it on my telly via dvd player. Well, all has failed. I am using the latest DVD43 and latest 1clickDVDCopy Pro too and the latest other programs. I use Taiyo Yuden discs, burn at 8X. When DVD Shrink copied and encoded WALL.E and then I had to put in a recordable media, that's when it all stopped working. I know the laptop can burn as I burnt some photos from my hard drive that the laptop copied from another disc..so, I am thinking that all should be okay there. I checked the DMA thing with laptop too and that seems to be fine...it just won't burn my discs...and that included the new one that I tried after Wall.E I'm not sure if it is the optical drive in Vista PC that's causing these little errors...but, I might have to live with it as the cure might be worse than the disease. I've hopefully managed to send the log file for my attempt at burning wall.e with 1 click. Does this make any sense please? Thanks again as I do want to try and learn what to do and how to do it. | I think your DVD drive is an SATA drive, so the DMA setting is not going to be an issue. Now as for your log... unfortunately you have only posted log entries of the last several times you opened 1Click and not the log of the failed attempt session. When you open the F8 log, scroll down to where you'll see it stating that the copying failed... usually 'bad sector' messages. As for the successful copying on your laptop... if DVDShrink was successful you would have a folder that is 4.35 GBs in size. With a VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS sub folders. If you have a larger enough flash drive, then transfer it to your Vista system like you mentioned and then use 1Click to burn those files to disc... BTW... if you do decide to buy AnyDVD, Slysoft allows you to put it on up to three PCs... so you could use it on your laptop 'and' your Vista desktop. Just use the same registration key file for both PCs.

| Hi again, and thanks, Can't believe I sent the wrong log files...dur! I will re send when I'm next on my pc (at work now thank you for that.I am going to check with 1click about being able to also have them on my laptop too! Good idea. I will also check what the size is of the possible files/folder from what DVDshrink did. I have a good sized memory stick and I thought I was copying everything from laptop to pc okay but I seem to be not expert enough to do this with any success.. I think, that the first step was successfull, but then trying to copy the information from memory stick gave me grief and would not work and I gave up - for the moment. I am at home on Tue and will yet again try to work it all out and hopefully in the end I can do what I'm trying to do now but cut my time down! Thanks for your help and replies.. Angie |

| Hi Zippity I don't know why I've had SO many hassles and am ending up here with what's looking like 'war and peace'. Moderators and others have been so lovely and kind and helpful...and I still have one or two questions which I'll address when I'm home with my pc. But, I am thinking more and more that it could be that the disc is corrupt. It plays well enough in my dvd player, but I am getting all the problems that I normally don't get when I try to burn it. I am going to take the kind advice of MBK who suggested I take the disc back for a replacement. I am just annoyed that it won't burn as I know it should and am trying to get it to work, somehow...but, maybe being stubborn isn't such a good thing in this case, as, if the disc is corrupt, then NO program is going to be able to burn it??? Thanks for your help. Cheers, Angie Last edited by angie.j; 23-03-2009 at 05:29. Reason: spelling error |

| hi MBK and Zippity I'm writing from laptop so when I get to pc will try and post 1click log file for wall.e I actually went and got a new one and would you believe that it did the same thing? I am going to ask their forum support team also about this as I think it is very strange. I had a look at the files that dvdshrink copied and the audio ts folder is empty and the video ts files have 1.44mb in it. When I put the new wall.e in 1click again you can hear the drive 'labour' and try to read it and not getting anywhere. Then it takes me many many and many more goes to try and eject the disk. I also found tha when I tried to copy a different dvd, 1 click said something about making a new folder as wall.e seemed to be still there and I couldn't copy the way I used to!!...don't know what is going on! angie |

| Hey angie, close 43 load AnyDVD let it scan Wall.e and then run DVDShrink to copy and cut a neww DVD. I had the same issue with several DVDs and on several readers ran the above process all worked fine. Unfortunately my ANYDVD triel has finished and the cost to buy is high so I am looking for an alternate process. I was thinking of using DVD43 and 1click,,, from the sounds of it I am better off with AnyDVD. Good luck regs |

So I think Angie is having other issues here. The fact that her VIDEO-TS folder from her DVDShrink attempt only has 1.44 'M'Bs is verifying that point. I still suspect a bad disc. Quote:
