I just bought a Panasonic DMR-EZ48V. I'm having problems when trying to record a show from Directv Tivo to the DVD recorder while pausing the recording process.

Whenever I pause the recording, it does pause....but the recording automatically restarts every time the Tivo is played. So, I can't really pause the recording process to forward to the next place on the Tivo to resume, because every time I push play on the Tivo, the DVD recorder starts recording again automatically. The only thing I can do is push STOP on the recorder and then press RECORD again when the Tivo is cued up to the next point. However, it's not a seamless transition in the recording, like PAUSE would be.

Do I have a faulty machine or is this natural? I can't find anything in the instructions about this.
