TSST Corp H552D Problem - DVD+/-RW

Hi. I'm new and I have a problem.

I have a ts-h552d drive. I've done everything with this drive like burn DVD+/-R, CD-R, and CD-RW. However, recently when I tried to burn a data DVD on DVD+RW blank disc, it didn't work. At first I thought it was just because it was a +RW so i bought a -RW. I tried burning data on it again and it still didn't work.

I ran DISCInfo and this is what it showed me:
It says that my drive can read and write on DVD+/-RW discs but it won't.


Does anyone know how to fix it?

What happens when you try to burn to the new +RW disc - does it start to burn, then fail, or does it even start to burn at all?

What software are you using?

It doesn't burn at all. The drive won't recognize DVD+RW and DVD-RW. But it recognizes everything else.

When I tried to burn with DVD+/-RW the drive just ejects and it says that I don't have a blank disc in.

I used to have Cyberlink but now I use Nero.

Well according to your drive info, the drive should support -RW and +RW no problems.

Two questions: Do you have Alcohol 120% installed? This can often cause media recognition problems.

What's the rated speed of the RW discs that aren't recognised?

I don't have Alcohol 120 installed. I don't know what that is.

That's exactly what I'm confused about. It says the drive supports -RW and +RW and yet it won't recognize both. The -RW disc has 2x speed and the +RW disc has a 4x speed.

I'd say maybe try a firmware update, but it seems you'd have to go to the Gateway site for that, since the drive appears to have Gateway firmware.

I already did the firmware update. Nothing really changed.

Test the drive in SAFE MOD or in another computer.

I've been having trouble with mine for a few days now. It won't recognize CDs and DVDs that I put in to play, and when I put in a blank to burn it continually tells me to "Please insert a blank disc."

What Website should I visit to download the appropriate driver? Which one is the best one to replace the TSST TS-H552D driver?
