I've tried to burn on three different dvdrw: MCC01RW4X (dvd-rw Verbatim) OPTODISC (DVD+RW SAMSUNG!!!) MBI01RWG20 (DVD-RW TDK) In all cases the disc is not readable or the burning process fails. With other support (dvd+/- not RW or CD) all is working fine. I've tried in two different systems and with different application (nero6, nero8, microburner, cdburnerxp and ulead burn se) with the same result. Also I've tried firmware SB00 and SB01. The same supports on a tsst 203p installed on one of the above pc are working fine. Is the 222a broken? Or I need to try another dvdrw type (and what?)? |

| Hi gnpb  It seems like you have tried a lot of different solutions. It could be a combination of a sensitive drive along with slightly degraded media. Were all three rw media you tried new? If not, it would not hurt to try with a brand new verbatim rw. What burning speeds are you using?

| Hello, thanks for reply... verbatim and tdk are new (tdk was writed for its first time from shs222), samsung is very old but I've tried a new sony dvd+rw (I've not mediacode now) with the same result. All dvd are 4x and I've burn it (or try to burn) at 4x. TDK and samsung are not accessible (if writed from sh-s222) or erasable and they "drive crazy" sh-s222 that makes a lot of noise (but not sh-s 203, it can erase them without any problem). |

| Hi, so the drive didn't work in another computer either? Could you tell us some more about these two computers? I am asking that since recent intel based motherboards don't support P-ATA, so mainboard manufacturers solder 3rd party controllers onto the PCB. Some of these controllers don't work good with optical drives. Michael |

| If you have tried the drive in two different pc systems with different configurations, tried different softwares (try also with imgburn you never know), tried different firmwares, tried different rw media, tried new media and nothing worked, then i guess you should either accept the possibility that rw burning wont be an option with this drive or get a new one
