SH-S182D reliable for scanning?

I hope this question hasnt been asked before (at least i couldnt find it )

Is the S182D a reliable drive for disc quality scans?
I just liked to test some cd and dvd media.

The scans dont have to be perfectly accurate, its enough if they arent completely useless like the scans from my Pioneer DVR-112D

Have a look at this one: http://club.cdfreaks.com/showpost.ph...7&postcount=12
With other media, the scanning results differ very much. You might also read some stickies in the Media Testing Software Forum. And for CD: forget it. The Samsung is useless for that purpose.

Re: SH-S182D reliable for scanning?

the general consensus is, that the earlier models (made before August 2006) are good for scanning, but the later models show elevated PIFs at he first 0,5 GB.

According to the comparsions i did with my Benq (my) S182D is reliable

Nearly no errors are reported. And such is impossible.

is this disc readable at all?
I'll see if I can post a CD-R scanning comparison between a Benq DW1650 and my SH-S182D this evening.

Yes, this is some ehm - ok let's call it feature - of Samsung drives. No problem with blank discs.

You can btw attach your scans directly instead of hosting them somewhere else: http://club.cdfreaks.com/showpost.ph...54&postcount=1

Here it is. I left out the advanced scan since the disc does not have any C2 errors.
The Liteon CDRW does not show all C1 errors, I posted the scan only for additional reference.
