Hi
Welcome onboard gebla.

Bitsetting on this drive is temporal. i.e. Is only temporary.
Some s/w programs will do the bitsetting for you automatically.
ImgBurn & Nero being just two examples.

However if using programs that do not provide this feature. All is not lost.
Make sure you have the blank media already inserted into drive.
Then using CD/DVDSpeed.
Run the program > Extras > Bitsetting > Then slecting the right media (i.e. DVD+R-DVD+RW-DVD+DL) make sure the new settin says DVD-ROM > Click on Set button.
You should then get a success displayed. You can now close CD/DVDSpeed.
Unfortunately you will have to repeat this process.

Thanks zebadee.

But please, tell me what picture to look at. (Pics can be nice but in some cases just confusing.)

Most important might be how to check that booktype DVD-ROM was set, use tools like DVDInfoPro. Latest Nero CD/DVD Speed is kinda crappy on this.

Edited. Either of my two S203* drives can display propper booktype in CD/DVD Speed 4.7.7.* with media proven to be DVD-ROM.

Hi
The above was done in a rush & pinched from elsewhere.
However the OP got the info they wanted.
But if using CD/DVDSpeed.
1st Insert + media.
Then run CD/DVDSpeed. Click on Extra, go to Bitsetting & click.
Then in the following window either click the set button for the disc type you are using.
Either DVD+R or DVD+RW.
1st picture shows what you should see after running CD/DVDSpeed, clicking on Extra followed by clicking on bitsetting.

In this screenshot what you should see if the change to book type has been accepted.

Finally after burning you can check using CD/DVDSpeed. As shown below.

Thanks zebadee.

But pics posted above seems to be somewhat out of real world, for me anyway.
Although I'll also post some pics from not that fancy XP... And in my tests booktype to DVD-ROM is NOT set by CD/DVD Speed 4.7.7.5
Note, using CodeKings firmware, don't think that matters anyway.

Interesting though, DVDInfoPro contradicts what posted above.
Note, my test iso is an image of "Alexander the Great" ripped disc. All my discs of this image are shreadded ofcourse.

Hi,

what is shown in the "Dics Info" tab in CD/DVD Speed? I am not sure if the "Benchmark" tab is always correct in this respect.

Michael

Hi
Sorry I didn't realise that this was what you were referring to.
I have tried changing the default DVD+R to DVD-ROM for CD/DVDSpeed User Interface.
But the initial window still shows DVD+R.
However if you then click the Disc Info tab it shows Disc type as DVD+R, with Book Type as DVD-ROM.

Quote without "doh".
I'll add a pic (#1) to illustrate why I said "4.7.7.5"...
You are welcome "IB"56.

Thanks allf or the info. I don think that the last screen (from zebadee) is the actual bookmark setting. It si more related to the format of displaying the data.

But I udnerstand that the drive does support bitsetting so it is the right candidate for me. Thanks for the help!
