Hi All, I've recently bought a second user (2 months old) laptop which has a TS-L532A Dvd Re-Writer. On trying to play DVD I realised it was set to region 1 (I need region 2) It says in the device manager there is one attemt left, but when I try to change it gives me the warning that there is 1 attempt left only are you sure etc, I click ok and it says there is either no region 2 media in the drive (There is) or I don't have the privalages (Logged on as Administrator) I cant seem to get round this problem Can anyone help Thanks Jamie

i bought an asus a3500e laptop with ts-l532a dvd burner one year ago.
first it didn't write on many of the blank media brands. then it didn't write on any of them.

i changed the firmware from tu-51 to ti-94, it began to write perfectly. yet i have to check different brands of dvd/cd's.. but i remember not being able to write on the same media while using tu-51.

I just bought 100 pieces of Verbatim DVD's and guess what, well it burns them but painfully slow! Took me ~30minutes to burn one. After that experience I seeked help from here, updated to TR51, not yet tried, but it doesn't let me choose even 8x, only 4x in nero

not looking good.

The question is, what freaking firmware should I get to get this understand my beloved 100 pieces Verbatim DVD-R's as 16x or even 8x?

Offtopic: A bit of relieve comes from knowing that my another computer (not currently usable though) has NEC DVD-RW drive in it.

Device manager, IDE ATA- or ATAPI, Secondary IDE-channel (Properties) and it is the device "0", that has Ultra DMA Mode 2. Primary IDE-channel, which (probably) has hard drive has Ultra DMA Mode 5.

This is my first post and I registered just to express a warning to anyone considering this drive, TS-L532A. Do not buy this drive! I have never wasted so much time trying to make a computer device work. It is a POS. I solved my problem by buying an NEC 6750A. I use the same DVD media as tried on the TSST drive and they all work. None worked on the TSST drive. I had all of the same problems as other posts and tried most of the suggestions, but as reported by others, this drive TS-L532A is crap.
