hey diesel: great tip. always wondered where my save button was. vista does include a "snipping" tool (i think its off by default, its part of the tablet pc options that have to be enabled), comparable to alot of the cheap screen capture utils out there. not fancy, butt enuf to get the job done.

A neater solution and still have the Aero theme.
Right click on the CD-Speed icon/properties and select the following (see screenshot) This will disable Aero for CD-Speed only and automatically return to Aero when CD-Speed is closed.

I have a question for any one who can answer it. Per post above by COdeKing, the drive may improve after a few 12x burns?

That post seems to be saying the drive can learn and improve or do you thing COdeKing is just refering to his patch or what??

I know there is an option on the liteon drives online hypertuning I think that checks the burn as it is going and makes adjustments. Also there is a program that clears any learnt data.

Now my questions:

1. Does this drive "learn" and adjust on each burn of each media type?
2. I have been flashing both of my drives every couple burns trying out different stratagies...so I assume I am disrupting the drives "learning process" right...I mean when I flash new firmware I assume any learnt data will be writtern over...is this a correct way of thinking?
3. I get good to great burns on this drive with TY 02 Media @ 12x (@TY03 Strat). So no problem there. However, what do you guys consider the best burn speed/stratagy for MCC 004 media as I can not seem to find a sweet spot (possibly becuase of the above?). The three spindles of MCC 004 media is PAPA if that helps with my question?

Where can i contact samsung for RMA? I have 4 packs of MCC004, 3 CMC made and one prodisc, still doesn't burn good.

Just return it to where you bought it, I know Newegg will take returns or replace.

my new drive is on the way, cross-shipment. At least i will have verification if really these disc are shit, or something wrong with the drive.

Please explain why it doesn't burn good (doesn't play in standalone?).

Could you scan that disc by chance? Would be good (for you really) to know if it's high PIE, PIF or maybe jitter at the end that is causing the skipping on your standalone.

I've noticed from the beginning that his/hers drive was never as good as ours. Sorry nekrosoft that's just my opinion. I think you send it back is ok.

It may not effect sata drives any way. It was said to cause optical (IDE...at the time) drives to drop from dma to pio mode...and some other things

I got it one time from a game called GTR Racing. I have had friends get if from installing game demos. It caused me a lot of trouble at the time.

Just 2, both for my work PC, time to retire the NEC 3500.

Also, the Samsung logo is gone, clean look. But i guess it's also time to seem some rebadges, like the Mad Dog @Compusa (btw, is coming back to business soon)

My third drive will arrive tomorrow... I plan on sticking it in a Galaxy Metal Gear 5202AUAS (USB/eSATA) and taking it to work with me... I have an LG GSA-H62N in that box now, but the Samsung is a better drive. Just wish Golden Hawk CDRWIN would support it soon.

I am not convinced this drive is better at DVD burns at least vs my H62L..at 18x
