This is a typical 20x burn from the CMC Verbs I bought @ Best Buy a couple months ago. I get between 400 and 800 BenQ PIFs even when burning @ 12x, but these discs still handle 20x better than any Prodiscs I have. This disc actually plays without skipping despite the jitter level.

thanks for posting a f16 result! I've found 16x to be unacceptable and 8x to be fine. Looksl ike I'll be trying 12x next time I burn. And if fast 12x is to be possible, it'd look fine enough for me for the rest of my 100pk spindle

Found the new Nero CD-DVD Speed 4.7.7.5 and gave it a run. Again...burned Verbatim 16X +R at 20X...here is the burn and the scans using the Sammy and the Benq 1640...again...a 95 with Sammy and the Benq gives slightly higher score...

So what's with the price disparity between DVD+R and DVD-R? I wanted to order some inkjet printable TY +R disks, but almost a $0.20 difference between -R and +R? ($0.46 shipped vs. $0.28 shipped)

Seems the TYG02@TYG03 are giving almost as good burns as the +R with the strategy swap. Opinions?

Sony branded TY T02, burned @ 20x using T03 write strategy; Verbatim MKM01, burned @ 8x using MKM03 write strategy. Both burned with MCSE-patched SB01 firmware.

Nice +R burns sengar.
Expand scale for burnspeed and save your pics in .png format with floppy tab top of window.

Looks like our drives burn MKM001@003 with same high spike at 0.4GB.

Okay guys, while no one seems to care about making RPC1 firmware for S203B drive I've been playing around a little myself.

Warning.
There are no means (known to me anyway) to reset S203B drives region counter, so please think twice before even trying this.

This is what I did to make drive regionfree.
Poped a disc in drive and executed LtnFlash v.2. At RPC tab I first checked current setting (code 2) and then changed region to 1.
Didn't think newest LtnFlash was compatible with Samsung S203B so I just klicked OK when asked if I wanna change region.
Burned a disc and it seems to work. More testing is needed though to make sure this just wasn't a loop.

I found out that u can get the disk button on top of CD-DVD Speed in Vista by going to desktop>Personalization>Windows Colors and Appeareance>Open classic Appearance prop> and chose Vista Basic instead of Vista Aero.

Works both for Vista 32 and 64.

save some time.

Yup. But when Aero's off, you start wondering why you shelled out the bucks for Vista.

This time a Maxell-branded RICOHJPNR03 (DO711)

DVD-ADDICT

Can you give us a any information on what the codeking f/w's additions are?

It seems you can get 18x on trt scan. It also seems P-Cav on 12x Burns (btw, do you notice any burn qualilty improvement with thie f/w, I noticed the last scan had a decent jitter.

Thanks

I don't have any idea when he'll release the firmware and any other additions that he may add to it. The first Ritek F16 was burned at 16x spd using his firmware & it did seem to have a bit of a higher jitter. So yes it does seem the 12x spd burn produced a decent jitter. Hope that answers your questions.

You picked it. Only 12x burning and read speed have changed. 16x burning will be the same as stock firmware but may improve slightly after a few 12x burns using this firmware.

You can also do this, which just turns Aero off temporarily [while CD Speed is running] and gives you your buttons back.

Some of your burns actually make RitekF1 seem like a decent media for this drive series, DVD_ADDICT. If I should run across some, I'll know what speeds to avoid.
