Is it possible for a burner to Kill the MID?

MID is prestamped on disc, so technically it's not possible for burner to "kill" MID.

When disc is burned the writer burns some of the MID information in lead-in area. On burned discs drives read this "second" MID information.

Most probably this is a sign of another "Lead-in bug" for DVD-R's on a drive with MediaTek chipset, (nothing new though for all old Lite-On owners...).

Hi

I believe in the past they've used the same chipset but different boards(Samsung use their own, a bit like Pioneer & the NEC chipset).
The Lite-On LH-20A1S is built on a Sony board.

I had realized the orginial post was older.....and knew you had pointed out the chipsets were different as well..so I guess it was a stupid question but I was fishing and hoping my LH-201AL..could be flashed to SH-S203B

I really wish newegg would get this drive
