well, i found the reg fix and did it. i have another problem though. i have a pioneer 111D as my main burner. i bought the SH-S182D as a secondary drive and tester for burned media. the SH-S182D loads all the discs burned with the 111D as "blank media" so i still can't test them. any ideas on that one? heh.

    thanks.

i uninstalled the IDE drivers, and restarted. the drives were running on a nforce4 Parallel ATA Controller, now they are primary and secondary IDE controllers, but the drive still will not read burned media.

the drive changes from "dvd-ram" drive to "cd drive" when a burned disc is put in. so it can tell a disc is in, just can't load it.

i bought this drive as a reader/tester type beater drive, not as a burner. i guess i may not be able to get it to work as a tester.

can you guys recommend any great drives that i could use to test burned media? cost isn't really an issue, just quality. my friends i do a lot of small movie projects for school and fun, and i have a lot of data files i back up frequently, so i want to know the burns are of quality before i delete the files from my HD.

i primarily burn with a pioneer 111D flashed with dang bros 8.29 firmware.

    thanks.
