Samsung Writer Discuss, RPC1 firmware for SH-S202G/H/J/N and SH-S203B/D/N at CD and DVD Writers forum; Confirmed - Showtime fscked up. Works like a charm in both VLC and MPC. Too bad I actually paid for Nero Guess I'll give RegionKiller a shot. EDIT: RegionKiller did the trick - thanks a bunch

Both S203B and N rpc1 are now available.

BTW, I still get error page on C0deKings new Sammy link. Will try clean firefox cache.
Edit. Cleaning firefox cache didn't help. Maybe we'll have to wait until work on servers is done.

i hate to sound stupid but wth is the FB FR firmware vs the regular RPC1

and hasnt anyone got a bitsetting firmware ? this drive is useless for me otherwise and i swear to god that i saw people posting somewhere this S203B drive allowed bitsetting

i have yet to see anyone actually say what FB and FR actually mean...

ala42 thanks for the info even though i havent read the review your smiley face indicates that it does allow bit setting.

why isnt imgburn allowing me to change the bitsetting.
it flatout says the drive doesnt support it.

after flashing to the rpc1 FB FR (which i figured out was fast read fast write ,, duh stupid me.

image burn says the drive doesnt support the bit setting of dvd-rom for +R and +R d/l but when i click change it says successful but the items i burn are not dvd-rom book type....

seems that DVD+R is changing to DVD-Rom after i burn it shows up as DVD-Rom
but
DVD+R D/L is not changing,,, dual layers are too damned expensive to play around with trying to make it work, its either gotta work or it dont.

hmmm.....

i'll try another tonight and see if image burn works. after that i wont waste any more dual layers and the drive will probably get sent back for a lite-on or something

here is what i get when using imgburn to set the booktype of dvd+r aor dvd+r d/l
this particular screen is for a dvd+r d/l
no matter how many times i do this it always reports 'unknown'

Samsung drives don't report back the actual booktype setting. That's why there is this message from ImgBurn.
