Hi,

I have a Samsung SH-183A drive, latest firmware installed, and tried to write data to some Philips DVD+R DL (8.4GB), which are RICOHJPN D01 in fact.

The bad thing: no matter how often I try, this writer always only writes them up to the layerbreak (50%), and after that, the burning process fails, Nero quits saying "process fialed" and the computer is at 100% CPU load. Here is a part of Neros error log:

Code:
14:17:24	#26 Text 0 File DVDPlusRW.cpp, Line 674
Start write address at LBA 0
	DVD high compatibility mode: Yes

14:30:16	#27 CDR -1206 File DVDPlusDualLayer.cpp, Line 1950
	Burning Layer 2

14:30:16	#28 Text 0 File DVDPlusDualLayer.cpp, Line 1961
Perform layer 1 to 2 jump before writing at address 2082304 (1FC600h)

14:30:34	#29 SPTI -1135 File SCSIPassThrough.cpp, Line 179

14:30:34	#30 CDR -1135 File Writer.cpp, Line 299
	Write error
	D: TSSTcorp CD/DVDW SH-S183A

14:33:31	#31 CDR -1176 File WriterStatus.cpp, Line 162
	Session fixation error
	D: TSSTcorp CD/DVDW SH-S183A
Is that a known problem with this drive and this kind of discs? These discs work fine in any other driver, except the Samsung.

Finally, is Samsung going to buy me some new Double Layer media, that their poor writer just destroyed?

cu,

Jackie
