Did quality scan with benq1640.

With cheap DVDs, its score was 94. Average 77.91 PI errors, 11 max PI failures.

Me wonders why sammy didn't include quality scan on this one.

OT questions: Is Nero's burn verification enough to know if the DVD is readable or not? I can only keep one.

I'm liking the Samsung since its able to read my DVDs which cannot be read by the Benq. Benq has quality scan tho....

This drive does do quality scans. CD-Speed just doesn't allow it automatically. You need to open up your registry, and remove samsung and tsst from the blocked drives in registry. Go to LOCAL MACHINE>Software>Ahead>Nero Toolkit>CDSpeed>CD Quality. The scans your Samsung would give may be more accurate than the BenQ. BenQ's are known to give somewhat innaccurate scans with analyzing discs burned by other drives.

1st burn with this drive. It's close to becoming my favorite drive (beating out my SOHW-1693S). I can tell the Litey is gonna have a battle with this one.

Flashed from SB02 to CDFreaks' SB03 immediately.

Nero 6.6.1.4 burn engine w/ CD-DVD Speed 4.7

Sony branded MIT SONY D21 DVD+R 16x discs @ 16x

If there were a fewer PIFs, I'd be saying "Taiyo Yuden? WHO???". & If only the Xpress 200 chipset on my Intel D101GGC could have handled multitasking a little bit better during the burn (at least it doesn't cause spikes at recalibration/buffer underrun points)...

1st: Burn Graph
2nd: Scan @ 4x CAV in SH-S182M
3rd: Scan @ 4x CLV in SOHW-1693S

2nd burn with this drive, first burn with this MID

Prodisc F02 DVD-R 16x rated (Maxell branded) @ assumed 16x (~6:30 burn time with long lead in).

Not the best, but not the worst...at least this disc doesn't have a visible manufacturing defect in it like the first 5 in the pack. (But I got over it and burned those, anyway.)

Burned with Nero Express 6.6.0.19d (I had to reinstall Nero for LightScribe functionality, so my previous post is inaccurate.) (no burn graph available)

First Burn on Samsung SH-S182M from Newegg
OEM Manufactured in the P.I. November 2006
VERBATIM 16X+R MCC004 White Inkjet Printable 50 pc. CakeBox
Burntime of 5:29 is about 15 sec. slower than my LG-H22N but quality appears about even. Posting scans from three burners for comparison. The Sammy seems to roughly match results from the LITE-ON and BENQ scans-

The 12x scan was better than the 4? Not bad for 'free after rebate' media.

I patched my registry to get DVD Speed to work. K-Probe also works with my SH-S182M. Had to copy wnaspi32.dll to the K-Probe directory to get it to work.

I just picked up my Sammy at Officemax as a I/O magic rebadge for 30 bucks after cashing in a bunch of ink catridges and flashed it with the firmware from JAN70, thanks
JAN70, and this is my 1rst scan. A TY TO2 burned at 8x and scanned at 8x. I have a few questions though since this is my 1rst Sammy, Are there any tools available for this drive
like Smartburn or like the Benq Q-Suite stuff? Are the quality scans supposed to be done at 8x?

Thank, budzos

Yo-

Not too sure that the Sammy 182M is a reliable Disc Quality tester-
