No, it will work fine without the NVidia IDE driver.

thanks for the help everyone......everything is working in kprobe now. I'll post some scans later today, I have a few things built up to burn. Is windows registry edit 5.0 a program you have to buy? I can't seem to find it anywhere. Thanks

No, if you have Windows XP that is the Editor.

One more problem I would like to solve if I can....... I can't seem to set the booktype permanately.....I can set it to -rom in nero cd/dvd speed but it only works for that burn. I also can get nero to change the booktype but thats not where I do most of my burning. I really want dvd decrypter to always burn -rom if I can.

It depends on the used firmware and it's capabilities.

Hi
If you use Nero 7 (so possibly Nero 6 is similar) you can use this method to Book Type permanently. See in 1st attachment Book Type Settings "Automatic". Change this to DVD-ROM, see 2nd attachment. The result should be permanent & show up ae in 3rd attachment.

Hi
Why do you want to get into your registry. If it's to uninstall your Nvidia drivers. You do that through Device Manager. Right click My Computer > Properties > Hardware > Open IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers > update drivers > select MS drivers.

He wants to get to his registry to edit it to allow use of Nero CDSpeed.

Click on the Start Menu-Then Run-Then just type "regedit"

cool, thank you very much....(once again) This forum has been extreamly helpful. I did get nero to change booktypes but I wasn't sure if it changed it for every other program too..... It didn't even cross my mind I guess. It was late at night lol. I'm trying that now. Also is there any way to remove the riplock on pressed dvd-rom dual layers? Its much slower then my other drives. I'm doing some burns and scans right now, I'll post them in a few. thanks again

Nero has nothing to do with DVDDecrypter, luckily.

I have nothing against DVDDecrypter, something against Nero tough...
But the idea is that they have nothing in common.

Prodisc F01
Burned @ 4x highest speed allowed!
High PIE's

I have this hooked up as a slave below my 1650 benq. Would it be better as the master? I have my 1655 as the master on the second IDE.

I have to scan with the benq as the scan with the Samsung drive is horrid...This is my RMA replacement drive from NewEgg.

TDK DVD+R47LSFW10 4.7GB 16X DVD+R LightScribe MID: CMC MAG M01 12X burn speed (6 min 24 sec)

QScan said 16X was a no go but were okay at 12X.

The S182 handled these a little better than my BenQ DW1650

Some first media tests on our new Samsung SH-S182D (RSMN) Retail. Our SH-S182D seems to be - after the first tests - a mixed bag. Not bad overall, but a bit picky about some media. We´ve bought the Samsung SH-S182D because of its 12x DVD-RAM feature. For backups and archival storage there´s nothing more reliable and safe around in the DVD segment than DVD-RAM. Maybe the LG GSA-H10A or a Lite-On would have been the choice with the better overall cost/performance ratio - but we´ll see. Testing some more media

Drive/Firmware: Samsung SH-S182D / vSB03
Brand: TDK DVD+R 1-16x Speed DVD+R47CBED25 4.7GB
MID: TDK-003 (000)
Burned with: Nero CD-DVD Speed 4.60 (Nero 7.5.1.1)
Burned at: 16x
Burn time: 06:04
Read Speeds @Disc Quality: 4x and 8x

Drive/Firmware: Samsung SH-S182D / vSB03
Brand: Sony DVD+R 1-8x Speed 4.7GB / 25DPR120AS3
MID: Sony D11 (000)
Burned with: Nero CD-DVD Speed 4.60 (Nero 7.5.1.1)
Burned at: 8x
Burn time: 08:22
Read Speeds @Disc Quality: 8x

Nothing to see of the publicised Writemaster-Technology-Features, the SH-S182D doesn´t like the Sony D11 and toastes altogether 4 Discs with almost equal "bad" results in the scans.

The only media I have had consistantly great scans on are MCC004, and Yuden000-T02 and T03. This drive seems to be made for these medias.
