How come I can't flash my SH-S183L drive?

Samsung Writer Discuss, How come I can't flash my SH-S183L drive? at CD and DVD Writers forum; According to Win Inquiry my drive is this: which is probably why I can't flash it to the latest firmware. It shows up with the correct name in the BIOS during bootup... How do I rename the drive so that it shows the correct model name?

Hi,

Your drive is not recognized properly. This might be controller or driver related. Could you please provide additional information?

It's connected to one of the Jmicron SATA ports on my Abit AB9 Pro motherboard.

You may also try to connect the drive to one of the native SATA controllers unless they are configured as RAID.

I wound up re-installing Vista on my computer and hooked up my SH-S183L to one of the Intel Sata ports. It's now recognizing the full name of the drive and I was able to flash it.
