Samsung Writer Discuss, current consumption for SH-S182M at CD and DVD Writers forum; Hello, I need to know the current consumption for SH-S182M at 5V and 12V. I am missing this technical data on samsungs setup guide and website. My external firewire-case comes with +5V, 1.5A and +12V, 1.8A power supply. Is this enough for the drive?

That seems to be not specified to the public. At least there is no rating to see on the sticker shown in http://www.cdfreaks.com/reviews/Sams...roduction.html

Similar drives like Sony AWG170A are rated 1.6A@5V and 1.8A@12V. Seems, as if your enclosure is at its limit (but nearly all are).

Thank you for the quick answer!
Today i received technical information from samsung germany.
They told me that the SH-S182M needs 5V, 1.5A and 12V, 1.5A.
That should be not too much for my supply.
