No-one's mentioned the 16x DL burns! I'm shocked. I could easily live with 10 minute DL burning if they come out that well

Thanks Dee-27. Great review from what I've seen sofar.

BTW, does this drive use Z-CAV at 12x (TYG02) with stock firmware.

Are 16x DL discs easy to find or are like 12x RAM media (not imported at all in Europe)?

Apart from the interface, is the SH-S202G drive the same hardware?

It should be, although i believe the S20x range was designed with SATA in mind. Some people have reported some problems with the S202G. The S202G firmware development certainly seems to be lagging behind, compared to the S203B.

On the Features page, under Writing Technique, For 48x CD-R, you have

"CD Recordable:

According to the specifications of the Samsung SH-S203B, it should be able to write CD-R media at a maximum speed of 48x."

While under the graph depicting the 48x burn, you have

"The Samsung SH-S203B uses CAV, (Constant Angular Velocity), to write at its maximum speed of 40X. This gives an average speed of 36.86x and a total writing time of 2 minutes and 54 seconds."

The max is 48.xx, and the average--while only off by .xx--is 36.93x [as reported by the graph].

Just thought I'd give you heads up.

EDIT: It's also the 48x/40x labeling issue on CD-R/RW Writing Performance >> Writing Data CD-R Discs.

EDIT2: There is also a bit of Plextor PX-760A typo-ing going on [reads PS-760A].

Okay, I'm going to stop reading the review for the fact that I keep seeing typos.
