I'm after a new burner thats on the s-ata platform.

My choices from the retailers I have access too are the samsung 183A (whats the difference between L/A etc?) and the liteon sh-16a7s, this drive in particular will be used for the occasional burn probably a dvd+r but mainly for reading discs and ripping stuff. I may also burn some dual layer discs on it.

Re: burner advice

This is interesting to me also, I am returning the PATA unopened to BestBuy at lunch today.

I think I saw somewhere on the net that Samsung uses a Lite-On drive.
