Hey mathf, the problem was the firmware. My Burner said DU07. Today i booted a BartPE System and (up)graded the firmware to DU07. Now it works. It seems that there was problem with the firmware on the burner...

yea i am pretty sure the du07 is installed.
I can read cds no problem.. I'l try writing one again at a lower speed because it failed at 100% and might not be the cd writer..
but i am still having the problem with the dvd.. cant read-write

this sounds like a damaged device. I did not have such problems. Perhaps you should send the device in.

Here guys i found how to resolve the problem!!!

I found the following problems by myself or searching through the web :
- Error burning DVD+R at 4X
(there is 2 circles after burning on the DVD after waiting for an hour)
- Securom problems with DVD games
- Burn crash ...

My firmware version was DX32, you can see it in the BIOS screen at bootstart.
You have to execute this update on compaq/hp website (don't worry if your computer is not a compaq, mine is a gericom ), it will use the QSI winflash program to update to the DX43 version.

Here is the link : http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/s...tem=ob-24305-1

If someone have found a new version, please post.

See ya, hope i was able to help people as much in trouble as i were.
(I already threw 4 Verbatim DVD...)

P.S : I read too that you have to burn with 2.4X, it works with me!!! I have to try at 4X a last time (goodbye DVD n°5...) but since the update, 4X is not accessible by default through my burning software...

Well my Burner now recognizes itself as NU DVDRW SDW-042 and burns DVD+R and DVD-R both with 2,4X
Does your Firmware burn DVD-R ?

Hi

I also have a problem with QSI DVDRW SDW-041, a very strange one. I recently re installed Windows XP Pro. The burner did not burn CDs. I upgraded the firmware to du07, and now I can burn DVDs at any time, but I can only burn 1 CD. If I try to burn a second one it fails. If I flash the drive with du07 again, I can burn the first CD, not the second, so to burn the second I have to flash the drive again. I don't understand how that can be, and I can't go on that way.

Strange stuff
