I have the above mentioned hdd/dvd recorder and recently i have tried to burn off stuff that i have on the hdd to dvd with no success.
Every single blank dvd weather it be a RW, -r, or +r or even the brand.. Sony, Datewrite, or staples own brand, when i go to copy, the player keeps rejecting the dvds saying 'insert a blank DVD'.
The dvds ARE all blank and until recently the copy facillity was working fine.
Any help would be greatful.
I have tried playing music cds and film dvds and they all play fine.
Its only when i put a blank disc in the player goes heywire!

Try cleaning it with a laser lens cleaner. If that don't help you might have to clean the laser lens with a Qtip

It plays dvds ok so i cant see a prob with the lens. Anyway ive cleaned the lens with no joy.
Possible burner failure?
