It seems it just feels like recording on these discs. PCline from pc world and a Hewlett Packard from pc world. The othe 50 have made great fire lighters. I bought a Matsui ?? from a car boot sale on Sunday. The guy said he'd bought it for his aging mum who couldn't understand it. I paid £25 with no comic, so I guessed I might have bought a £25 plug ! It records on all the discs that the lite on rejected except a couple bearing my teeth marks. The rules here, it seems, are there are no rules. The price these things are changing hands at are a fair indication of the demand versus supply situation presently. They can be considered consumables. Hard disc recorders are coming down in price big time, so I reckon this'll be the way to go, using the odd blank for backing up for posterity. My liteon 5005 will be installed in my wheely bin, definately before much longer. I've not been much of a contributor, I'm afraid, to this great forum. Cheers, guys and girls. Happy beer mat spinning. Best regards to all. P.S
Hi:
I've had a lot of luck in doing this:
When the Liteon cannot record or recognize a disk I ERASE IT (even if it's blank and unused). At that point it records.

If the machine seems not to want to erase it, opent the tray and close it, immediately go to "Guider" and "erase".
Good luck. Let me know if this helps.

I've had trouble finalising Verbatim+R 16x recordings (endless 'Stopping'). It has been suggested that perhaps an upgrade then downgrade may remedy the problem.

I have LP/MV firmware 0102-1840-0098-G2B9 now. Can I upgrade to current LFNA1101.E20 to get more media compatibility and then back to 0098 without losing the enhancements?

Thanks

You were absolutely correct. Upgrading to 101 and then back to customized 098 fixed the problem with Verbatim 16x+R media finalising. Thanks for all your suggestions.

I just recently purchases a dvd/cd drive (D drive) to replace the one that burned out. I have it physically installed, Device Manager detects it and says it is working properly but it is not detected on the drives under my computer. When I put a disc into the reader, the green light comes on but nothing happens.

How do I update the driver or fix this problem it is for a Lite-on DVD/CD Rewritable Drive Model: LH- W1P?

I would appreciate any help with this. I am an at home college student and really need to the use of my D drive for school. Thank you.

I have a LVW-5104 Recorder.
I updated the firmware I got from Liteon's TW site and now have remote control problems.
I am looking for the factory original firmware but have been unable to find it.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The firmware for the US LVW-5104 can be found here

www.pumapeople.com/liteon

It would help if you would post your country.
Hope this helped you?

I am located in the US and the firmware listed on that site is the same updated firmware I downloaded from LiteOn.
It is not the same as the firmware that was on my LVW-5104 when I bought it.
I do thank you though for the reply.
I have already searched the net looking for the original firmware.
Unfortunately I wrote down the serial and firmware number that was on the recorder originally on an old paper and then threw it away by mistake so I kind of messed myself up.

No you didn"t. It should be on the back of your recorder. There is a sticker on the back of all recorders with that info. If you still have the box its also on a sticker there. This firmware you have should work. Make sure you put the update on a CD-R (not RW). Put the CD on the tray and shut the power off (tray should close). Wait a couple of minites and turn power on. It should ask you about doing update click yes. If this don't work the first time try it again. Let us know if this helps maybe someone else has another idea for you.

Got it fixed!
Did a system restore and everything is good to go now.
Why I didn't think of that sooner I have no idea.
Thanks for the attempt to help me with my problem.

I bought a device from Dimax that is connected between the VCR and the DVD recorder that gets rid of the Macrovision.
There are a number of posts on the site regarding this issue.
If there is no macrovision hack for your recorder you will have to buy a video stabilizer.

Hi,

I have a DDA500GX and a DDA100X (UK models).

I recently upgraded to firmware 034 released early March for both of them, and have noticed that since then recordings cannot be played properly in computer DVD drives (playback stops every few seconds, or even stops for good). This doesn't affect standalone DVD players.

I am looking for the previous firmware (032) for these two machines to see if this would solve the problem:

DDA500GX: LNQCE032 (filename LNQCE032.DA1)

DDA100X: LNQGE032 (filename LNQGE032.DA0)

Thanks in advance for your help!

Thank you for this, CCRomeo. I have a LVW-5005. It came with the 098 firmware.

As I read through this forum, I was getting very confused. I went to the Lite-On website and downloaded the upgrade to version 101, then I read that you can't hack that version.

Your instructions below worked perfectly. I downgraded back to 098, patched it with ILOHack and loaded the patched 098 back into my 5005.

I now have the Macrovision hack (records copyprotected media), the region hack (plays all discs), and the 3-hour LP hack.

I tried it out and it works fine. Thanks again!

On the other hand it took almost a full day of Googling to figure out how to "update" it with the desired features. To save any other late comers the touble here's what I found to work for me:

1. Starting serial number out of box (manufacture date Dec 2005):
0102-1140-0101-G2BD(100-010B). Where from what I understand means:
0102 - Motherboard type
1140 - DVD Drive type
0101 - System firmware version
G2BD - DVD drive firmware version
1 - Region locked to Region 1
0 - Macrovision (r) is ON
0 - Update filename ends in .ES0
010B - ???

2. Upgraded to the latest factory version (LNFA1101.ES0) downloaded from the
Liteon web site. Theory: factory update may have firmware update for
drive. After update the SN didn't change so theory is probably incorrect
and the update wasn't necessary.

3. Downgraded to the factory version of 098 (LNFA1098.ES5) downloaded from
http://www.pumapeople.com/liteon/. I tried to load the "HEXED"
LNFA1098.ES5 image from http://www.pumapeople.com/liteon/ several times
without success. Some people have reported it was necessary to install
the unhacked version first so I tried that. It didn't help for me, but
at least it flashed.

4. Hacked the factory version using the program downloaded from
http://ilohacker.tripod.com/ILOHack15.zip. The resulting differences are
just 5 bytes:
Comparing files LNFA1098.ES5 and HACKED\LNFA1098.ES5
000000A7: 5C 60
000000EB: DA DE
000A13D6: 01 00
000A13DA: 00 01
001DB034: 1B 1F
The "hexed" LNFA1098.ES5 image from http://www.pumapeople.com/liteon was
different by a couple of bytes.

5. Upgraded the factory 098 using the locally hacked LNFA1098.ES5... worked.
Device serial number is now 0102-1140-0098-G2BD(015-010B). Macrovision
and 3hr recording modes tested and working.
