Hi JM, could you put up for download the ddw-451s g2bd drive update from January. I used a 098 firmware for the LVW-5006 before I saw this thread. I didn't know that it also had a drive update. Although my 5005 still works, the drive is noisy as heck. I think I upgraded the 451s to whatever the 5006 uses as it sounds like it spins faster than before! Mine is the 5005A, built Sept.2005 with s/n 0102-1840-0098-g2bd Or should I just hook up the drive to my computer and update the firmware using the file for the LDW-451s? Thanks!
Never mind, found it in another thread.
| Thanks jm1647 for making these available. I was struggling to downgrade my 5005 and was able to do it successfully using the 1098 version you have provided. Thanks again ! Quote:

Can someone e-mail me the correct UNHACKED 1098 file or post a another link? I would greatly appreciate it. I tried downloading from one of the links posted, "US/Canada 0102-1840-009X-xxxx update to 0098 fw for system only is here. This is the file I downloaded for my machine 0102-1840-0090-XXXX". I have tried opening this zip file with WINRAR and winzip. Both will not open the file, saying it corrupt and NOT a valid archive. PLease help .... been bangin my head for weeks on this. Just cannot seem to find the original 1098 file anywhere.
Hi.. I’ve got a very confusing situation. I have a 5005 and a 5045, both are performing well, however, here’s the confusion: I recently bought a new spindle of (100) TDK DVD-R 4.7 GB/GO media at Costco which is labeled as “1-16x” media. I assumed this would encompass the standard 4x write speed I’m accustomed to using on both machines. My ImgBurn utility reports the disk mfg as TTH02 media with a write speed range of 6x to 16x (the old 4x is missing). The older media I used up was mfg by TTG02 with a write speed range of 4x to 8x. Here are the confusing points: . 1. The 5005 (fw version S/N 0102-1840-0098-B205(015-010D (hacked with ILO hacker months ago) fails to recognize this new –R media, however, the 5049 S/N: 0132-0141-0197-B20B (011-010D) does quickly recognize the new disk as –R media. 2. After verifying the 5049 indeed recognizes the disk as –R, inserting it back into the 5005 results in the 5005 now recognizing the disk however it seems to think the media is +R instead of –R because there’s no minus sign leading the R in the 5005’s display. All my older TDK –R (4x to 8x) disks displayed the minus sign normally. 3. Recording to the same new disk with the 5045 is normal and it also, as far as I can tell, plays back normally in the 5005. However, all attempts to write to the new disks using the 5005 result in a “Write Fail” within 30 secs to a minute or two of attempted recording. ‘Seems to me the summary of this is that the drive in the 5005 simply can’t cope with the faster media. I don’t know what model burner is in this 5005; ‘guess I’d have to take the cover off and find some numbers to find out. I remember that when I upgraded the 5005’s fw to 98 using the fw file d/l’d from the LITEON website (and later hacking it with ILO hacker) there was a burner (drive) update offered at the same time – and at that time, I thought I’d leave well enough alone and not update the burner’s fw. Now, with this new hassle, I think maybe I should have updated the burner’s fw? I have an older download of a LNFA 1000.E30 file which I think was the latest burner fw at that time? Can anyone advise me of the filename of the latest burner (not system) fw that I should try to get the burner in the 5005 up to speed? Does this have to be done with the computer or can it be recognized from a CD with the fw update burned on it? Thanks for any help… J.R.

Do you still need this? BTW you don't need to sequentially update, the current 080 will contain all previous.

I was looking to back flash my dads 5006 (uk) after the 0101 Access to older firmware I found this link http://www.liteonit.com.tw/DC/engli...5.0104.324x.zipThis I found at digital spy forum and is still a live link for 0098 firmware on 0104 board system flash only and should ilo hack the macrovision now as 0101 did not. A way in for old system files! On serial code I think the 1st four digits are board type eg 0104 the second may be regional third set system firmware eg 0098 and the fourth optical drive unit firmware Correct me if I am wrong but I hope this helps.. Have not tried this out yet on th unit but will...let you know if I bugger it up.
I've been lurking on this forum for awhile, and this is my 1st or 2nd post. I have a Liteon LVW 5000 that I bought in December of 2004. I immediately upgraded the firmware with the only upgrade that was available at that time, LNFA1098.ES3. I then hacked the firmware using ILOhacker's routine with the desired results. My Ser. # now reads 0102-1840-0098-G2B9 (013-010D) I've read all the warnings about using the patch that was on Liteon's site for awhile. I won't do that. I still have my copy of the 0098 firmware, and I need some help in trying to figure out why my DVD-RW's will only record several times and then die...... I do not have any problem recording on DVD-R's using Sony and Verbatim discs. They will play perfectly on my two other players, as well as my friends players. Has there not been an upgrade to allow other media? I also have the "jitter" problem when watching Direct TV imput with S-Video input as well as all the other inputs. If I run the source button through all of the sources and stop on the source that I was using, the "jitter" quits for some time, then returns! I have generally been VERY pleased with this machine, and would really learn to cherish it if I could (with all of your help) correct these nuisances! Thanks for having a great Forum to help us non-techies through the forest. Many thanks for all your help Ddbord
| I am looking for the 098 update for my US 5005 with serial number 0102-1140-0086-G2B9l Any help with a link to the file would be appreciated. I don't know if the files already posted would work for my 5005. Thanks, Keral3 Quote:

I upgraded from the 090 version to the 101 version not knowing that I wouldnot be able to bypass the macrovision then I tried to down grade it to the 098 version using your link and it would not even recognize it. All it says is it is a data file.I am wondering if I did something wron or will it not down grad it ? anyone know what the prob is ?
Will update firmware 0098 for US 5005 0104-1840 work/besafe for my US 5005 0102-1140-0086-G2B9. Thanks for any reply.
Hi, I'm having a devil of a time trying to downgrade my LVW5005. You guys are my last hope! Initially I had upgraded to the LNFA1101.E10 upgrade (hacked) using a CD-RW (Memorex). The firmware was from LiteOns website. It went flawlessly. The upgrade did not disable Macrovision (which was what I really wanted). I later read that the 1101 update will not accept the Macrovision disable hack. I then loaded the LNFA1101.E10 (unhacked) firmware on my LVW5005 successfully (no 3 hr mode, region) using the same CD-RW (erased and reused). For each upgrade I do a system/restore before I load the firmware CD-RW. I then tried downgrading to the LNFA1098.ES5 firmware listed on this posting (both 0102 and 0104) without success. I kept getting "data" on the screen and "File" on the display of the unit. I am using the same CD-RW as I did for the other firmware loads. I even burned a couple of CD-Rs (TDK) just in case the CD-RW was the problem. Still, no downgrade. I'm not sure what to do next. My thought is that the LNFA1101.E10 upgrade from Liteon must have done both a system and drive update (because of the 2 numerics in the extension "E10") which will not allow me to downgrade. I believe I may need a previous version of the firmware that includes both a system and drive update or else I'm doing something wrong. My unit's serial number before the upgrade was 0102-1140-0098-F2SC. After the upgrade it is 0102-1140-0101.F2SD). I am tapped out on what to do next so any help would be awesome. Thanks!
Hi, I'm chasing the firmware for Australia, version 098 (or is it called LNFF4098?) It's the current firmware I currently have, but I would like to hack it if possible. Can anyone help please? I've considered downloading the same firmware, for another country instead, and then just changing the region settings using the remote hack? Is this OK, or is their more to the different region firmwares than just the DVD region settings? Thanks & Regards Adam.
As I newbie to this forum, just want to thank everyone that has participated in this forum for their advice and experiences... But I have a question, I recently bought a Lite-On 5005 with FW 0101 installed. Is there any way to get around MacroVision? Reading the posts, it sounds like I'm screwed. Seeing as how some have reported the ILOHack program doesn't work on the latest FW are far as MV is concerned, should I just shell out the money for something like DVD Red Pro? Do those things even work? Any suggestions?
"People are buying 5005's that still have the 0090 fw installed on them and do not want to update to the 0101 firmware and are looking for the 0098 version. If you have had your machine since the 0090 fw and did upates to 0098 and have the files from liteon please post a yousendit link" I have the old (files date 04-17-2005) LNFA1000.E20.0102.184x.zip (drive), and LNFA1098.ES5.0102.184x.zip (system) downloaded from liteon for 0102-1840-0090-b20b. I searched but could not find how to do a 'yousendit'. If you still need them, let me know how. tnx, pete
I would like to get the 1098. Try Rapidshare, I find it better than Yousend. Thanks http://ul10.rapidshare.de/

After trying several methods, I got a hold of a friendly rep at Liteon, and as far as is known, you CANNOT downgrade, nor can you do another full (drive&firmware) update to 101. Once 'completed' shows up, there's no going back. You CAN do a system only upgrade by downloading it by itself. At end of your serial no. at liteon's download page, using B20G gets you the LNFA1101.ES0.0102.184x file only, use B20b gives you both in the LNFA1101.E30.0102.184x file, (the 'G' tells it you have the drive updated or not). If you try the full (E30) update, the D-UP just reads the file and bypasses it. Otherwise, you'll have to wait for 102. Mod it prior to applying. If you still want to play, see my earlier post, I uploaded the original 0098 files. |
Re: Message 44 above (GRYSPK).. I have to disagree with the 'friendly rep'. Above in this thread, I had posted a problem report about my 5005 not recognizing new 16x media and fixed the problem by updating to 1101.This allowed the 813s drive FW to be updated from B205 to B20G and it fixed the problem of not reading the later media. After that, I reloaded my hacked version of the 098 FW and now everything is back to pre-1001 functions with my 813s drive updated to B20G (fixed the 16x media problem) and my MV and LP hacks are again working fine.

from #41 above I have the old (files date 04-17-2005) LNFA1000.E20.0102.184x.zip (drive), and LNFA1098.ES5.0102.184x.zip (system) downloaded from liteon for 0102-1840-0090-b20b. Thanks for the success story, Re: Message 45 above I had the reverse disk problem with older Sony 4x's (have 100's) (on approved list) started not being recognized/formatted 'invalid disc' takes 2-3 power off/on THEN it will see them, but once it reformatted a half used one from the day before. I called to get an RMA after a couple of service emails with no solution, called tech support and talked to the tech 20mins, he said it couldn't be done and send the unit back. I put the 098 files out there on request. I tried and tried (about 10 times) first one, then the other, then both, then reversed the order. Machine would just do a quick read (seen on display) of each and didn't even ask to be powered down. Think I'll give it another shot (or two), as the drive has problems now after 101 update (not before) My drive is also a 813s, mfg 6/2005. Last edited by gryspk; 11-01-2006 at 09:02. |
Hi, I'm new to the forum. My model is 5005 (US) and the serial is 0102-1840-0090-8203 (103-010D). I hope that updating firmware will allow me to transfer vhs movies I own to dvd. For some reason when I try to do this it transfers fine for awhile (shows recording) and then sneakily the recording light goes off and the message about recording also disappears. I am transferring from av in front and the dvd's are set to sp quality 2 hours and have plenty of room. Thanks for any help you can provide Meredith Meagher
I would first try the 098 fw upgrade in post 43 above. Do them in the order in the filename ie. xxxxxxx.first.zip, second.... should improve your recording. These are ORIGINAL lite-on files. Last edited by gryspk; 25-01-2006 at 22:12. Reason: Correct ref post.
[I unwittingly purchased an older 5005A (SN 0102-0143-0080-F2SC (011-0109). It was upgraded to deal with LP, MV but has other bugs like an unwillingness to accept media multiple times. Do I need FW upgrades to bring me from the June 04 mfg date? Will these interfere with the Firmware MV Hack? I have one week to return this unit or solve the problems. Thanks for the help/ and the forum.
I have a Liteon 1101 Standalone recorder. The SN say's SN: 0161-1140-0018-BC32 Is there a firmware upgrade? I tried to use the latest firmware upgrade and it asks then begins. Spits out the CD and continues the upgrade which it says it completes. The numbers do not change however. What am I doing wrong?
