Yep. I just wanted to see if it would read anyting since it is one I had on hand. Now I have a new issue. A friend of mine wanted to see if he could help and removed the original LMU-713H burner. He wanted to see if it could work in his PC and read any DVDs. (In the meantime, I took it the recorder back and installed the XJ-HD166S as I mentioned.) He couldn't read the 713H and I just got it back. The burner has a small PC board hanging from the drive attached by only a ribbon cable. The PCB has a couple of switches on it apparently to sense when the drive is open or closed, I'm guessing. Anyway, he doesn't remember how the PCB was attached to the burner.

Can anyone help with this attachment? A picture of the burner would be awesome, if anyone has one!

OK, its been a few weeks since I posted last about my A760 problems. I have now purchased a used LiteOn burner DH-20A4P on eBay from a guy in UK to replace the original burner. I plugged it in and it doesn't read any DVDs. Not commercial or those burned from this machine. Anyone know what I need to do? I am a newb at this stuff. Thanks.

Did you set the drive to master and play a DVD while connected to computer to set region before installing in the recorder?

(Sorry for the delay I've been away.) Yes, I did all that, from what has been posted on this forum already. When the drive was in the PC, no message came up regarding setting the region. It just played several DVDs that I tried with no problem. When I put the drive in the LiteOn 760 and insert the same DVDs, it does absolutely nothing. It doesn't seem to recognize them or something.

for the liteon LMU-713H the drive is model number LMU-713H as mine has broken down yet again and i have opened it to see what model it was..............

I'm not sure what you are trying to say..... Is this in response to my problem with the LMU-713H PCB?

Actually, if its not too much to ask..... Would you mind taking a picture or describing the location of the little PCB board that is mounted on the bottom of your LMU-713H? In another thread, I mentioned that a friend took mine apart and forgot how it mounted. There are pictures of mine hanging.

PJ, I just took a look at your photos, and that PCB looks like the ones that are on pretty much all Lite-on DVD drives. Take a look at this photo, which is in a review of the SOHW-1633S, and shows the boards from the bottom, and see if it helps. The LEDs and the black switch on the other side of the PCB will point to the front when it's mounted to the rest of the unit. http://cdr-info.com/Sections/Article...ges/inside.jpg

I have a problem with my Liteon HD-A740. It records to HDD and will read from already burned dvds, however on inserting a blank dvd it comes up with the message "preparing" then ejects the disc. It will not burn to DVD/+R or DVD/-R but will burn to DVD-RW, any advice? Obviously keep burning to DVD-RW is costly.
