| What is your favorite liquor? No, I'm not an alcoholic, and even if nobody will trust my words, I actually drink quite rarely and in very moderate amounts. In fact, I don't like to gulp liquors to kill my brain and liver, but I like more to slowly sip and taste the liquor, to enjoy aroma, to savor the flavor... Just in case someone still doesn't know, my favorite is grappa ![]() However, I like also other liquors. Among my favorites there are limoncello, Fernet Branca and Unicum. What is your favorite? ![]() @Deano: beer is not a liquor

When I saw the kitty cat had answered in this thread, I expected a 10 paragraph answer detailing her opinions on various alcoholic beverages...quite disappointed I must say. ![]() Haven't had liquour for decades now...was never a great fan. | Re: What is your favorite liquor? One of my everlasting hobbies is to try every single malt whisky there is. No ice, no water, pure in a crystal glass. Pure enjoyment. So far i have tried about 30 or 40 different whisky's. I also like mead.

| Re: What is your favorite liquor? I'm rather partial to a glass of Amaretto, especially on a cold winter night around 04:00 when I can't get to sleep. I've nearly finished the 1L bottle I started in autumn 2004. ![]() When it's really cold Kirschwasser is rather nice (that 70CL bottle has been in my cupboard since June 2000 and is still far fom empty). I found a superb whisky way back in May 1997 (Scottish single malt of course ), chosen as much by luck as judgement, but I can't remember what it was. Been searching ever since but without success. I'm really not a fan of the smokey Islay ones and most of the others seem a bit weak. It might have been from Speyside. ![]() Quote:

| Re: What is your favorite liquor? I used to think it was Bowmore, but that's an Islay one. But the name Knockando (Speyside) rings a bell and I'm certain its one I've had before. Definitely worth giving it a try. I'll have to persuade someone (our resident alcoholic) to buy a bottle and let me have a taste. Thanks Mr B, that site looks rather good. I know someone who will find it very interesting. With the stuff you drink it could be a very short trip. ![]() I was never much of a drinker (the only stuff worth drinking was too expensive), but I don't really drink at all now. Last Christmas I had to give my annual bottle of Cava away after only half a glass.

| Re: What is your favorite liquor? This is the official Singapore Sling recipe : 1 ml gin 1/2 ml Heering® cherry liqueur 4 ml pineapple juice 1/2 ml lime juice 1/4 ml Cointreau® orange liqueur 1/4 ml benedictine herbal liqueur 1 - 2 tsp grenadine syrup 1 dash Angostura® bitters It is the Heering® cherry liqueur that makes it good they could double up on it. I also drink sparingly . The Scotch whiskey I've had wasn't single malt or expensive . I don't care for wine except I did used to drink some Sangria with a friend when he bought it . Partly because he would carry it to rock concerts in a bota . To show my age that was 35 to 40 years ago. As I posted I'm more of a beer drinker . If I'm in the mood for something more expensive I like this: Belhaven Scottish Ale

| Predominantly I'm a wine drinker and usually more red than white but I am also partial to single malt whiskies. I've tried loads of these and the Bowmore and Balvennie whiskies would be my favourites ATM although Talisker is quite nice too and I had a 21 year old Glenfiddich a couple of years ago that was excellent. I've tried most flavoured liqueurs at some stage or another and the ones I always come back to would be Cointreau or Drambuie. As far as beers go I like San Miguel and Stella Artois the best and for cider wise, Strongbow hits the spot for me! Did I mention I like the odd drink! ![]() Wombler

| Re: What is your favorite liquor? No one will believe it but for me the answer is N/A I don't drink. Outside of personal reasons, I spent too many years working in restaurants/bars and watched the same people who came in night after night to get drunk and didn't know when to stop. I didn't want to take a chance of that happening to me. The sad fact is you never know for 100% sure that you are an alcoholic until after you start drinking and by the time you find out it's too late. |

I went to bars a lot when I was younger but not every night & seldom to get drunk . I liked to dance & that was where to do it. Drinking was part of that . One reason is you would be constantly pestered by a waitress if you didn't order something . Now I don't even remember the last time I was in a bar .

As a side note, I only did one pharmaceutical grade drug in my life (as a freshman in college) and it was limited to one pill. It was an amphetamine dubbed "black beauty" or prescription diet pills. It was something like I had never experienced and in a good way. It made me feel like I could think five times as fast, was unbelievably alert to my surroundings, I could drink tons of beer and not be drunk etc. It just made you feel great with no downside when the drug was in my system. It scared the hell out of me because I could see myself being addicted to it in no time at all. I never took another drug of any type after that and just stuck to having the occasional drink. When I see meth addicts I can understand why they get addicted to that drug. It makes them literally feel like Superman for a while and there are plenty of drugs the do the same thing. | |
