@Airhead
I had made some setting in the BIOS (in error) that had disabled dual channel memory support. It's enabled now.
The hard drive rating is still preventing a higher score than 5.4 though.

I'm still drooling, but have wisely used the money to install a discrete drain on my desk to stop my keyboard & paperwork from getting wet

I just bought a notebook pc
It's running XP right now, but I have a Vista upgrade for it.... won't install that for quite awhile tho

I never really wanted a notebook, but found out last week that I'm going to be spending lots of the year working in China, and I'll go completely mental without a pc to play with. Plus I'll be on my own, living in a hotel where hardly anyone speaks English for 3-4 weeks at a time. I'm gonna be bored. There's only CNN as English tv, and that doen't keep me amused for more than 20 mins....

My notebook from work is old, and we're not supposed to install "non approved" software on company equipment, so.... by all this rambling, I'm trying to justify spending all this money in an unplanned way

OK, work to do now .... need to install all my favourite apps on the new, shiny notebook

Hmm, looking for one myself, but I'm still trying to justify the cost (don't worry, I'll keep trying ).

I just hope your hotel has a decent connection speed, I couldn't go back to dial-up

I love life...Yeah, I'm sad, but at the same time, I'm really happy that something could make me feel that sad. It's like...It makes me feel alive, you know. It makes me feel human. The only way I could feel this sad now is if I felt something really good before. So I have to take the bad with the good. So I guess what I'm feeling is like a beautiful sadness.

Courage and perseverance have a magical talisman, before which difficulties disappear and obstacles vanish into air.

I am so glad that GWB's 8 year COD game is finally over.

The most important things are the hardest to say. They are the things you get ashamed of, because words diminish them-words shrink things that seemed limitless when in your head to no more than living size when they're brought out. But it's more than that, isn't it? The most important things lie close to wherever your secret heart is buried, like landmarks to a treasure your enemies would love to steal away. And you may make revelations that cost you dearly only to have people look at you in a funny way, not understanding what you've said at all, or why you thought it was so important that you almost cried while saying it. That's the worst, I think. When the secret stays locked within not for want of a teller but for the want of an understanding ear. - Stephen King, intro to "The Body."
