Yes , you are blind. Those things you read now are in your head.. they are not real.. In fact you've never developed a body as well .. you're a brain connected to a machine that feeds on your energy. They have created a surrounding for you and you think it's called your consciousness.. but it's NOT ! You don't actually die as well .. they just reformat your brain and make a new one (now waste) and use the energy again. Of course your identity is just a couple of terabytes and nothing less. Even these things i smoke are not real. It's all fake...

and purple ..

Ok, I think everyone has totally lost the plot, what was this thread about again?

I reckon we should call a vote.
1) Cheap Hardware
2) Pimping
3) Longest Cd-freaks thread
4) My sister picking her nose
5) Lite-on cdwriters
6) The matrix

Most posts wins.

Cloakdoa, since you're from Florida...I have to ask you this.... I'm trying to come down to South Beach or Miami for a week for vacation this summer with a few friends. Any suggestions on where we should stay? Any websites where we can get some info on clubs/hotels/activities/chicks down there?

And for anyone else, where would you suggest going? I've been to Hawaii, Cabo San Lucas(Mexico), and Jamaica recently....wasn't that great. I'm open to any good suggestions.

Oh yea, I would suggest buying CD Burners from Best Buy. They aren't the cheapest in the world but it pays in the future. I bought a 16x a year ago with the warranty, went back last week and told them its acting "funky", and now I have a 32x. Next year I'll do the same and get a 64x. Heehee...

Not very likely - i don't think they will ever go past 56x ... but that s good tactics (56x dowsn't sound that bad anyways)

This thread's gonna be LONG... I foresee it!
And somehow I feel young hanging around most of you guys...
I'm 18, and live in Brazil, an odd land in everything that's CDR-related.

A land where Lite-On is very hard to find, and LG totally dominates the marketplace, while newer companies CyberDrive and Optorite and the good old Samsung are steadily gaining market through lower prices and nice products. AOpen, Acer, Mitsumi, Asus and sometimes Teac are available in a couple places... Plextors are available, but since the 32x runs for US$290, it's not really worth it IMO.

A 32x LG burner here currently runs for US$99, while the 36x Cyberdrive or a 24x Samsung go for US$89 and the 32x Optorite for US$79... The 16x Optorite and Cyberdrive are a nice US$49... Expensive by US standards, but cheap around here.

As for the media, the market is CMC-free except for the Imations.
The cheapest media are Princos, running at US$20 / 100 spindle, making for great value...

DST, Vanguard (ughhh), Fornet, (ouch, had a Phthalo disc go bad in months...) Prodisc, SKC, Gigastorage are the other main manufacturers available. 90% white-tops, by the way.

Ritek (TDK/Maxell) and Acer are available at a premium only.

Kodak Ultimas are available only boxed, at about US$0.85/disc.
But the real gem here are Kodak Golds, available only in spindles, at about US$0.30/disc. The same price as the Prodisc Golds, by the way, and I like them both.

All Mitsuis available here are made in taiwan, be it the boxed ones or the spindles. I have no idea how those compare to the Japan ones, so I don't really use them since they're more expensive than even the Kodak Golds...

Taiyo Yuden? Yes... We have Taiyo Yuden, for about US$1 on HP 16x discs or US$2.50 (OUCH!) on Basf CeramGuard 8x discs...
All of our Sonys were always made by Sony in taiwan, even it the old times where most of the world had Sony as TY.

An odd market, with odd choices, but I kind of like it.

Well, this wraps my first contribution to what will be the longest thread on CDFreaks... Will probably return later with more insights...

By the way, has anyone ever heard of Zigadrive DVD-ROMs? 16/48... Saw them for dirt-cheap around here...
But DVD-ROMs are a topic for another post, another day...

Today i am going to get my AMD Athlon 1400 Mhz processor (14 x 100)..

After that i can't upgrade my motherboard anymore .

It has 1500 meg of ram (the maximum) a 1400 Mhz processor (the max).

I could of course buy a GeForce 4 (now a GeForce 2 MX400 64mb occupies it) and upgrade my harddisks (2 x 40Gb , 1 x 80Gb at the moment)

ok, now i realize that i've written it without thinking, and i just wanted to write 2-3 *hundred* $ (or €, who cares? these days they're pretty equal...), which is anyway too much for a poor italian student.

This looks very much like a hen house, all people talking about so many things that you can't make any sense of it whatsoever...

Just replying and rack up your posts is what's going on here it seems, regardless of the content (doubt anyone reads it all, I know I won't)
