| Are old laptop batteries worth anything? So at my job there are numerous battery recycling bins located throughout the building. They get emptied each week but by Friday there are probably at least 2 laptop batteries in each one. I did a quick internet search but I was wondering if these old and probably dead batteries are worth anything and could be sold. Ideally, I would like to sell them in bulk and not individually. Thanks in advance

| Re: Are old laptop batteries worth anything? Well I figured a company that sells individual Li Ion batteries would be interested as replacing the cells inside seem somewhat easy: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BtqRvAu71Gw They could then sell the "new" batteries for a considerable price. Wazzy: Would you be interested in just any laptop battery(ies)?

| Re: Are old laptop batteries worth anything? Rebuilding a battery is usually not worth the cost unless it is a special purpose battery.Ther reason for the bins is not to make money but to keep the batteries from ending up in the landfill.

| Re: Are old laptop batteries worth anything? That was supposed to say "I would not pay for depleted batteries." I suppose it could work, but as nmpaulcp said, it's probably just as cheap/cheaper to make a new battery.

| Re: Are old laptop batteries worth anything? Most laptop owners wish for a backup battery, but the cost id often 1/4 the origional price of the laptop and how do you charge it without putting it into the laptop. For now the answer is to keep the battery charged and when it dies replace it with a new one and hope the price will come down.
