| Re: How Big is your .. err .. Stash! I'm just curious, for some of you with these huge lists, do you ever even burn any of it? I see some very old media in some of them (I have huge amounts of old media myself). It seems I do most of my burning O a few recently bought medias though (generally what I have the most of). With the older stuff, it seems, either its really good and I'm saving it for important stuff (and never wind up using any), its slower and I'm usally in a hurry, or I just cannot remember which drive it burns good on (I probaby have 20-30 media codes that applys to). I usally have to make an extra effort to try to burn through the older stuff (probably part of the reason I have so much media). Its not that I dont burn anything, I just usally grab a verbatim 16x Or something else that I bulk purchased recently that I am trying to burn through, and usally ignore the older stuff. |

| Re: How Big is your .. err .. Stash! I'm also curious .... is all this media for bragging rights? I have 500+ DVD's of TY/MCC , and less than 50 CDR and am using the dvd's at a maximum rate of maybe 2 DVD's per week ... usually closer to 1 every two weeks ... I figure I'm good until the useful life of the DVD format is over ![]() Similarly, I have 50ish cdr's, and haven't burnt a single one for almost a year. 1/2 the CDR's I got as a promotional deal, bundled with the DVD's Who is still buying CDR's? And no matter the bargain, it's not worth the storage area .. if I'm never going to use it.

| Re: How Big is your .. err .. Stash! As of late, I don't really have much of a stash... [all stuff in small font is being reserved] 40 RICOHJPN R03 23 RITEK F1 21OPTODISC R16 21 OPTODISCR016 35 YUDEN000 T02 10 MCC 003 26 SONY D21 26 SONY16D1 9 RICOHJPN R01 2 CMC MAG D01 1 MKM 003 1 CMC MAG AM3 2 MCC 03RG20 1 TTG02 4 PRODISC F02 =222 pieces of media, currently...give or take 2 SONY16D1, 5 or 10 YUDEN000 T02, and 1 or 2 RICOHJPN R03. Add in 2 Sony 48x CD-R, 10 Memorex 40x music CD-R, 6 Sony 4x CD+RW, 3 Maxell 3x DVD-RAM, 10 or 15 Maxell 4x DVD+RW, and 3 Memorex 2x DVD-RW, and you get a decent amount of writing that, at the rate I'm going, won't last until Christmas. ![]() If I was to go retail shopping, I believe I would need to stock up on 8x media [000 T02 and MCC 003], rarer Japanese media [MXL RG03, Maxell002], and 16x Mitsubishi media [MCC 03RG20, MCC 004] in order to be satisfied. I think it wouldn't hurt to go and get those Panasonic 16x -R MIJs I see in my local stores, either. Or, if all else fails, I would just get 75 HP DVD-Rs, knowing that they are good CMC MAG AM3, and be content. I believe there's a little function called HyperTuning that my A1P has that would work SWIMMINGLY with 75 pieces of the same media... Throw my BenQ back into my system, and I'll have SolidBurn. Then we'll really be cooking--err, burning!

I think that mostly, I started stocking up when I realized that most good media was starting to disappear from store shelves here in the states. Also, when I started burning, I wasn't as savvy, and used a lot of the typical name-brand media without knowing what it actually was, so I'm also insulating myself against the possible future need to reburn a lot of stuff. If old disks start going south, I don't have to worry about looking around for better stuff to transfer them to. | |

| Re: How Big is your .. err .. Stash! i'm a tad understocked at the moment, glad i saw this thread as i'd been meaning to take an inventory for ages.. DVD's 900'ish 'Verbatim Taiyo Yuden', most of them are the elusive and very sexy TYG02 of old , most of the rest are YUDEN000T03 and i think there's a few TYG03 around here somewhere, though can't remember if i ever got around to actually buying any TYG03 as was so happy with TYG02/YUDEN000T03.300'ish Maxell RICOHJPNR03, didn't realise i was so low on these, must get lots more asap, just noticed that SVP are selling them for £12 per 100 now as opposed to the £16 they used to cost. I used to be a strictly only Verbatim TY man, but after a fair few thousand RICOHJPNR03 being so faultless they've become my favourite discs. CD's 200'ish Verbatim CD's, can't remember exactly what they are; not fussed as only ever use CD's as giveaways now, all my music now lives in USB2.0 enclosures, got sick of wasting time searching thru 1000's of CD's just to play some tunes.
