How Big is your .. err .. Stash!

Well I did the same thing in the CD-R days about 7 years ago....
I still have 400+ of TDK MIJ 12x CD-Rs and tons (I lost track at about 600+ 650MB discs and I know that there must be an equal amount of 700MB discs around) of TY 1-32X CD-Rs (the stock still is growing...but only when I find some dead stock of Hi-grade media) in my room and in the past year I did burn about 5 CD-Rs of these (only use them for special purpose...now you can do the math on how long this stock is going to hold)....For normal CD-R burning I still got 300pcs of Ritek (48x) CD-Rs. (The amount of burned CD-Discs is too much to even recall, but about the same as the stock I still have....)
With DVDs it is a little better...
I only got 200 8x TY DVD-Rs, 60 8x TY DVD+Rs and about 30-40 of other branded MIJ media left......

Well as you see you are not the only one around. And there once even was a thread about how many Medias every one has stocked in his house with photos (I dont remember in wich forum but either it was in the Living Room or in the Blank Media section)....
Well stocking of media seems to be a common feature (or better obsession?) with CD-Freaks...lol

This 'affliction' is widespread on this board I think. Only about half my blanks get bought for 'serious' reasons, the rest is all from obsession...

Oh, and by the way, I've just gotten rid of some CMC DVDs...

My collection spree isn't finished yet. I'm always ready for rare 2x or 4x generation media, or even 8x.
I thought that I bought maybe 25% of the media because it's rare or valuable or both, like Singapore-made MCC 002, or That's YUDEN000 T01. But after calculating the value I found out that about half of my stash is only here because I love old media which is possibly going to be never burned

Drage once said that this is a characteristic of a true CD Freak, and that he would be proud of me, IIRC

How come you don't have MCC 004 ?

Nice stock man , I am too getting media like crazy , my room is full of them , sometimes I burn 3 or 4 blanks with the same media (as a test) but it was actually to use them

bear17, my addiction's almost as bad, I probably have around 1500 assorted discs right now (DVD) and probably another 4-500 CD-Rs. I burn a fair amount of DVDs but even so it will take me at least a couple years at my current rate. CD-Rs on the other hand, lately I only burn a couple CD-Rs a month...

It's just not fair. What is a guy to do when he sees what could be the last Yuden00T02's he will ever see for the cheap price of .45 cents aussie each? You have to get as many as you can. Same with the MXLRG03's (MIJ), you just know the chances of being able to buy them again are pretty slim, here in Australia anyway.
And then I really would like to see how the Sony's burn. But of course you need to try both + and - to be sure. And of course it's cheaper to buy in bulk........
But im sure you all have the same thoughts.

I pretty much just buy 200 (1 box) when im running low so roughly every 3 months or so, my current one is T03 (Verbatim) ive got about 220 left a few MCC004's and a few TYG02's

I can't even imagine how much media I had back then a year ago. I have been making a strong effort to avoid buying media so I could burn through some of my old stock and to some extent, I suceeded. I have quite a few less of my favorite medias compared to then. With decent quality media getting very hard to find in the US though, I have been considering stocking up while I can still find any. I stopped myself at one pack of verbatims today, and promised myself that I would do an accurate inventory of my media before I bought a bunch more. I was astounded at what I still had, in total 2012 dvd's (didn't bother to check cd as I rarely buy or use them). heres the list. I dont quite have the media code list zevia does but I got 37 of em (lots are old stuff). It took a couple of hours to inventory them.

Well, I've felt the need to stock up on another 150 OEM TYG03's (inkjet non-hub printables) & 20x MCC dual layer DVD+R ordered from the intarweb.
Plus another 50 Verbatim branded TYG03 which were the first I've ever really seen them on Aussie shelves.

It's taking a lot to fight the urge to go get those other 5 packs of papa verbatims. Seeing how much I really still have and the fact that I am pretty broke kind of helps though.

I only started seeing those recently on our shelves as well. Bought 100, only burned one so far though
