I just started using iTunes and MSN Music, I chose to buy it of MSN Music as it was £6.99, iTunes was £7.99, anyway, do you know which is better quality? I think they are both 128kpbs, MSN Uses DRM WMA, iTunes uses DRM AAC (MP4), if iTunes is better quality its probably worth the extra £1.

Anyway, back on topic, does anybody know how many tracks it should have? both the iTunes and MSN Music version only have 9 tracks.

OK... it seems all the tracks are there on my version, but they are "merged". Why would they do this?

Why don't they allow consumers to download uncompressed music and video files if they are charging? They could have started such a service 10 years ago.

I dunno?, I would prefer to be able to download a ISO, not protected, then burn it just like a had bought the CD in the shop, seems I cant even get the same version as in the shop.

I guess its for dialup users, so why dont they give you the choice of say "low 96kbps high 320kbps"

320Kbps for dial-up users
100Mbps for everyone else

320Kbps is only 40KB per second. I usually get multi-MB/s download speed from Microsoft servers that are located in the US, not in South Korea and such downloads cost nothing but what I pay for home Internet on a monthly basis.

hmmm... well it takes me about 15 seconds to download 1 song of MSN Music, so around 3 mins for a album, I would happily wait 10 mins for 320kbps music, to be honest I have all my music at 192kbps mp3, sounds fine on my iPod (where my music ends up), but I would still prefer to download it at a higher bitrate.

DRM is also annoying, it doesnt stop me doing anything, all it means is that as soon as I download a album, I burn it to CD-RW, and then rip it back to unprotected mp3, its just annoying, and doesnt stop me "pirating" it at all, if i wanted to pirate it, wouldnt I have got the music illegaly from p2p in the first place?

What about ISO images available everywhere (of course, mostly illegally)? Compared to the WMA and AAC files heavily compressed, they actually sound a little better. Microsoft and Apple can't compete against Warez? It takes just two hours to download 100 CD Audio albums, without compressed. If P2P's and webhards can do that, those who make money by selling music and video should be able to do it easier and better.

Anyway, I can't copy any MP3, video, JPG to my LG LP3500 for which I paid about US$600 and pay about US$20 each month (basic rate.) Not even the ones I created with this very phone. LG Telecom's idiotic policy.

They cant compete with WaReZ, I started using MSN Music and iTunes on moral grounds (as discussed in the "Is WaReZ immoral" thread), however morals asside, WaReZ is alot better.

Is it legal for me to buy it from MSN Music/iTunes, and then copy the CD off a friend?

It is legal to share 1,000 DVD titles with close friends. If not, you can't watch TV and DVD with your father, daughter, mother, grandfather, or even pet animals at home.
