I am a happy owner of a Plextor Premium 2.

Of course I use Plextools for scanning and for DAE.

I was wondering which is the best version of Plextools, if any.

I know the last version is #3.16 I guess... BUT often the last one does not mean the very best one.

What do you recommend,...

I know this feature it is also included into ImgBurm.

I made a couple of test on very bad media, like CD-R made by Verbatim and TDK: without OPC it was almost a disaster, by OPC there was an important improvement about C1/C2 errors.

By using good media like Tayio Yuden there was no big difference.

It seems this technology works by calibrating the power laser and I guess the speed too, but it is also a technology quite old and never updated.

My big question is that I think it works by continuos calibrations (write, read, match, correct and again write, read, match, coorect), producing so a lot of gaps.

Is there anyone with more experience than me who can give me a couple of good advice, pelase?

I do apologize for such a stupid question, but there is an option in burnaware which has no sense in my language (italian), maybe it is a translation mistake.
1) Use default value

2) Skip detection of writing speed

What does it mean? Whatever value I set as recording speed (I usually set 16x for audio), Burnaware will ignore it and deceide the right speed?

In other words, what is it the difference between the two option and what is the best to do?

it is pretty confusing, at least for me.
